I'm watching Laura's Glastonbury set which I captured in superb quality on my PC - thanks to having the secret Pyramid Stage HD webstream m3u8 address!! I never realised just how good she is - and she speaks properly for a change too!!

I think she is great too. Never seen her live but her albums seem to get better every time you play them.

You don't actually need "the secret Pyramid Stage HD webstream m3u8 address!!". You can just use the BBC website...

Laura Marling at Glastonbury 2017 in HD

Is the 30 day self destruct defeatable these days...???

It's years since I last played around with these kinds of media 'hacks'...

Oh yes it is if you use get_iplayer, which is a freeware command line based programme, and comes with an excellent user interface - Web PVR Manager. Versions after 2.98 do not support live tv & radio, so I use version 2.97 for that. TV programme files save to a nice mp4 file which is free of 30 day limit, and will be read on a flash drive by most modern televisions.

Cheers bonz,..
might be worth experimenting sometime.
What's the sound quality of the saved MP4s.
I'm certain HD TV is not lossless audio, but what would the eqivelent mp3 bitrate be ???

320 ?

256 ?

even lower ???

The mrs is happy enough with Amazon Prime music streaming on the TV speakers..
that's not exactly best quality mp3 audio...
but good enough for her to have background singalong playlists while writing reports and doing stats..

My hearing is still good enough to detect poor mastering and noise reduction artifacts on CDs through good headphones....

drives a bloke nuts with ocd..
is it a fault with the CD, headphones, cabling, CD player....

HI FI is a bastard when you hear clicks and interference in glorious detail..

Sound quality sounds fine to my tired ears and seems to be aac 128kbps, but what that equates to in mp3 I don't know. I believe that there are BBC video streams available with audio up to 320kbps but to capture those you need the m3u8 links which are well hidden. When watching a video on line, if you press F12 a bunch of code opens up at the food of the screen which is supposed to include m3u8 info.

One uploader gave these details for his capture of the Pretenders' set at Glastonbury:

Source: Recorded from the iPlayer Feeds on 23.5E. Chroma 4:2:2 format.

Video: H.264 / 1920x1080 / 14.4 Mb/s / 25 Fps
Audio: MPEG-2 / 384 kb/s / 48.0 kHz / Stereo

I suspect an at least size 18 anorak is required to decipher that lot!!!

On sky box, the HD gigs are available for the usual month..
Yet to hear anything worth keeping,
but there must be something amongst all that lot not watched yet..

Chic is the best so far..

The Swedish sisters duo First Aid Kit are definitely worth hearing for country style vocal harmonies..
..and they are not too damaging on the eyes...

I'll give them a go. Incidentally, who was that idiot prancing around the stage wearing a blue tracksuit shouting drivel?

The wife's favourites of acts she'd never heard of:

Ata Kak - African dance music [I missed him, so dunno ?]

Kate Tempest - award winning lefty poet / rapper / ranter... imho.. a mixture of excellence and hard going...
You never know bonz.. you'll probably laugh yer bollocks off at her.. but.. you never know.. some of her words may chime with your better human side..

The aging teen punk in me quite liked the short clips I saw of
Sleaford Mods, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Cabbage...
