Subject: Obit: R.I.P. Paul C Young (Oakville, Ontario)
From: Jeremiah McCaw
Date: 29 Jun 17 - 09:09 AM

I've been lost in the ether from Mudcat for some time. So sorry to be back to pass this on, but a number of Mudcat folks were acquainted with Paul, many as performers. Paul had been ceaselessly promoting folk and acoustically-based music, both as co-operator & head of the White Oak Folk Club in Oakville as an open mic and concerts. Some of the people we helped introduce to this part of the turf included Bobby Watt, Artisan, Tamarack, Tanglefoot and many more.

Paul did leave his mark and he will be missed.

It is with great regret that I must share the sad news of Paul Young's passing from complications due to liver and renal failure. Paul has been in Oakville Hospital for the last couple of weeks. As per his wishes, this was not made generally known. On Thursday he got worse and was transferred to ICU. He passed away peacefully the next morning, Friday, June 23rd, 2017. He was 62.

As per Paul's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. However, he did want a party! "No sad songs, only happy memories and happy music."

So, there shall be a party, a wake. I'll post when and where as soon as it's been decided.

Farewell, my friend . . .

Sorry to hear this Jeremiah. It's been good to reconnect with a few of you in recent months. Unfortunately, I hadn't seen Paul in about 15 years. His efforts in Iakville should be applauded

John
