From: Ian

Hi Folks,
As the "Towersey Village Festival " relocated to Thame Showground, Oxfordshire, with new name. It has left the singaround in the barn of the Three Horseshoes sadly depleted in numbers. We are endeavouring to continue this event and would ask that anyone with some time to spare over the August bank holiday weekend (26th, 27th and 28th) join us to listen or sing.
There is room in the pub for a music session where you would also be most welcome.
Please tell others about this at you club, song or music session.
Like us on facebook. Towersey Barn singaround.

Good and gracious Mods, should this not be above the line?

No sessions in any of the town pubs?

If we are talking about Towersey, then the only "town" pub is the Three Horseshoes. If you went into Thame you would no longer be in Towersey.

As far as I know there are no events in Thames related to the festival. The show organisers are not too keen on off site events. I do not know when Abdul was there as I was at all 6 sessions over the weekend (none on Friday)and did not leave the pub grounds until Tuesday morning.

I still might be there if enough people commit. It's a long way to travel if there are only half a dozen.

I think you need 20/25 to make it a successful weekend

Things have to start somewhere though Dave, and being in on the beginning of something might well mean not so well attended to begin with.

If all those that are waiting to see who else is going then none of us will know who is. I would rather you tell me how many people you has asked or persuaded to go. It is a case of use it or lose it. I would add that there have been few suggestions as to either an alternative venue or programme. The barn can be accessed all the time the pub is open. That is from 11ish to 11ish. Time could be set aside after normal sing for Ballard or shanty sessions.

The last time I went it was like God's waiting room, loads of folks knitting and singing from crib sheets...
Haven't been back.

Certainly expect to be attending lunchtime sessions on Sat, Sun & Mon
hoping to see the all the old crowd of usual culprits unless by some dire chance they've fallen off the twig, in which case " What's the life
of a man " will be called for.

I've heard a positive report from someone who lives in the area and went along to see if it was any good - nice food, good beer, entertainment laid on, easy parking and no entrance fee.

And great weather.

Maybe I'll join them next year.

I thought it was great. Superb singing even when there were not that many in the room but then the barn practically sings itself, and the standard was great. The pub were very welcoming, the weather was lovely. Will be back next year if we are welcome back.
