Subject: RE: Favourite gospel/religious songs From: topical tom Date: 15 Jul 17 - 07:23 PM Thanks, Joe, I do like that song very much. Although I consider myself a Christian I do enjoy any delicious verses! By the way, this thread is in no way intended to disparage or insult Agnostics and Atheists or other "non-believers. After all, to each his own. We on earth are one family. |

Subject: RE: Favourite gospel/religious songs From: Joe Offer Date: 15 Jul 17 - 03:40 PM Some religious people might be offended if they actually paid attention to the lyrics, but I really love "Don't You Hear Jerusalem Moan?" I really like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band recording, but they leave off most of the delicious comments about the various religious denominations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euT2rI8p1_k I put a bunch of those "delicious" verses in the Rise Again songbook, wondering whether they would pass editorial scrutiny (Editor Peter Blood, who's much more concerned about being nice than I am). Peter let the song go though as I submitted it, so you can find the "delicious" version of "Hear Jerusalem Moan" in the songbook. -Joe- |
Subject: Favourite gospel/religious songs From: topical tom Date: 15 Jul 17 - 01:34 PM Some of my favourite singing comes from gospel/ religious songs. Although they form a huge number under these headings, please do not mention hymns in this thread. My favourites happen to be bluegrass style but this is my own opinion. I also enjoy country and blues styles as well.To begin, here ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzRaTZSGA8s&list=RDfzRaTZSGA8s#t=55 (Goin' Up Home to Live in Green Pastures) s one of my favourite gospel songs: |
