Today is the third anniversary of my last cigarette. They say it is easier to quit if you have something to replace it with. Well, I replaced smoking with the Mudcat, and, if thats not hooked enough, the Mudcat page is now my home page. Saves traveling in winter weather!

Good for you kendall....Just keep in mind when any urges come your way, you are only one smoke away from being a smoker again. So don't even think you can fudge and have just one. Stay a non-smoker by never ever smoking again. The Mudcat is great and my PC opens to it so I can catch up with a quick run through. I have to admit that I skim the threads and often have some real issues swish right over me. My addiction to it is tapering a bit since I don't always find the extra time to devote to it as it deserves.
Three years of non-smoking and a lifetime of Mudcat has a good healthy outlook for you.
Mudjack

Guillaume! We Roma have enough to bear in our history of forced migration, slavery and genocide, with out a coffin nail being named after us. Maybe we all can get the cigaretts re-named Gadjen (non-Gypsies)
Au bien tot, mon frere
Larry
PS There are a few good addictions - and i believe Mudcat may well be one of them...

InOBU: "Gadjen" is the Rom word for non Gypsies? Interesting--it's so close to the Japanese word for non-Japanese: Gai-jin ("jin" is person in Japanese; "gai," of course, means foreign: hence, to a Japanese, any other country is a "gai-koku"--do you think there could be any etymological relationship?

Actually not. Although Romaness and Japaness are Asian languages, our language comes from the other side of Asia. We once were Rajaput, from north western India. We also were warriors, sent out 1,000 years ago to repell the moslems, but, did not do very well. We were driven down into Persia, where we went from the second highest caste in India, and warriors, to the lowest class in Europe, a people without place, and pacifists. Gadjo (male singular) Gadje (Fem. sing.) Gadjen (pl.) translates from its hindi root as civilian. Though that meaning is now lost on most Roma, to whom it means, everyone who is not Roma. I have often heard of the Japanese word like Gadjo, but though there are remenents of some 20 or so languages in Romaness (though it is predomently Hindi and Persian) to my knowlege there is no Japanese in the language.
Arigato, gozimus, as we Roma say (only kidding)
All the best
Larry

Always a treat to congratulaye another ex-smoker. It's been a bit over 25 years for me. I know that because I quit just a few weeks after my second son was born. For a long while I had to stay out of bars because the smoke was nauseous to me. I finally got over the "allergy" syndrom, but still can't stand to be around when it gets too thick. To this day I still very much enjoy side-smoke from a good cigar or a good pipe, but have no desire or inclination to smoke one myself. Cigarets and cigaret smoke, however, remain just plain disgusting to me.

Well geez sorry Larry, I didn't name them, can't change the name and I don't smoke them--make a dumb quip around here and you're in danger of getting an education!
