Subject: Dali's Moustache
From: keberoxu

Salvador Dali's moustache, adorned with generous amounts of Hungarian Moustache Wax,
was the object of a photograph book by Philippe Halsmann
while Dali was still living.

In an effort to settle a paternity claim,
Dali's remains were exhumed and
his moustache is intact yet.

Dali

Dali's corpse has been exhumed
Less deformed than we assumed
At ten to two or ten past ten
His moustache remains as then

What we want to know is if
His other parts were ever stiff
Enough to sire young Pilar Abel
A child conceived 'under the table'

"10 to 10" is a kids' song to the William Tell overture tune aka The Lone Ranger...

Ten to ten to ten ten ten...

Jack

Ten to ten would cut Dali's moustache in half! Nobody managed that.

To cut Dali's moustache in half would be the work or Dalilah!

When Dali was just a young shaver
He was known as a bit of a raver
Now all he has to show
Is a mustachio
And his future could hardly be graver

Ooh, GOOD limerick! Just*count* the puns! Henryp, I am taking that, I will attribute it as well as I can.

We had that book. I was weirded out as a child.

Could his drooping watch imply
he wouldn't be inclined to try
His servant girl to satisfy
And cause their 'daughter' then to lie?

Dalis moustache was too large for his face
So it waxed ninety years on his cheeks
It was not as taller as the surrealist himself
Though it lasted many decades more
It was grown on the morn of the day that he was born
And was always his treasure and pride
But it waxed, longer never to fade again
When the old man died
37 years without slumbering
its life seconds numbering
It stopped, short never to grow again
When the vain fool died
My grandfather said that of those he could hire
such a servant so faithful retained
For it wasted no time and had but one desire
At the close of his death to remain
And it kept in its place, not a frown upon its face
And its hands stood smart by their side
But it stopped short, never to grow again
When the old man died

Yes, Mrrzy, that was one WEIRD book. Worn to tatters, at my childhood home.

I think I might have inherited it. I shall have to reread it, if so.

Meanwhile, that limerick is still winninng this song challenge! All limericks, fyi, are sung to the tune that Oscar Brand used.

Ay ay ay ay, in China they do it for chili. Now here comes another verse that's worse than the other verse, so waltz me around again, Willie!

ttto "Silver threads among the gold"

Dali, you are growing cold,
In your grave so it's been told.
Though your corpse may rot away,
Your 'tache will last for many a day.

But, my Dali, it may be (may be)
While they check paternity.
That your 'tache so firm and free,
May last for an eternity!

Cheers
Nigel

Salvador Dali
Was a bit of a charlie
Bent watches and all that shit
But when he had a bash
At growing a 'tache
He seemed to have mastered it.

Cos it grew quite long
And folks came along
And called it a work of art
As part of his oeuvre
What a great manoeuvre!
(They would said that about his farts!)

But when the old Spaniard
Popped his clogs.
The 'tache said Death ain't the end
The rest of him
May have gone to the dogs
But my art has a message for men.

So now the 'tache
Is in The Prada
Giving seminars and such
Students it says they must try lots harder
Or they won't understand very much.
Art continues much long after
The artists's beating heart.
All his bits and pieces
They go on being art.

Weary Salvador, arise
For you must play your part
In a story stranger far
Than any in your art

An issue has arisen from
A time when you felt brisker
The court is ready to declare
The winner - by a whisker

DNA should settle a paternity suit, at least it outta
Dali's moustache looks just like the one on his daughter.

There is money to made in a grave
When paternity suits are the rave
They say Dali's a daddy
by a lass not a laddie
She has never been taught how to shave

chorus:
Genes decide a suit of paternity
at least they say it outta
Dali's moustache of eternity
looks just like the one on his daughter.

There is money to made in a grave
When paternity suits are the rave
They say Dali's a daddy
by a lass not a laddie
She has never been taught how to shave
