Hi, Thompson-
The 1964 Johnny Cash album you're wondering about is Bitter Tears (Ballads of the American Indian). It features five songs by Peter LaFarge, and three others.

Here's the album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni_EdsL-avU&list=PLArpKJA0hY4p6bjLkcQZl_tk8aVX-nyjk

It includes Cash's memorable recording of As Long as the Grass Shall Grow

Interesting article suggesting that Native American influence on the blues (and other American music forms) has been ignored or suppressed.

Wish they'd named that Johnny Cash album!
