Subject: RE: The Ladies' Pantalettes (Planxty) From: michaelr Date: 24 Aug 17 - 11:10 PM Yeah, it's mostly RTE recordings from the 70s and 80s. Great stuff! |

Subject: RE: The Ladies' Pantalettes (Planxty) From: Steve Shaw Date: 24 Aug 17 - 04:43 PM It's a good two hours' worth of mostly old clips, much of it from Planxty's, er, vintage years. A fair bit in black and white even. But it's all stunningly grand, and Donal Lunny always looks like he's having the time of his life! The music making is utterly sublime throughout. |

Subject: RE: The Ladies' Pantalettes (Planxty) From: Steve Shaw Date: 24 Aug 17 - 04:13 PM That DVD is the best damn thing I've bought in ages! The CD is pretty good too. It lives in my car CD player. |

Subject: RE: The Ladies' Pantalettes (Planxty) From: gillymor Date: 20 Aug 17 - 08:37 PM Carolina Rua I should say. |
Subject: RE: The Ladies' Pantalettes (Planxty) From: gillymor Date: 20 Aug 17 - 06:41 PM Listening to it on The Women I Loved So Well album, The Ladies' Pantalettes sounds a bit like Carolin Rua. |
Subject: The Ladies' Pantalettes (Planxty) From: michaelr Date: 20 Aug 17 - 04:57 PM On the DVD of Planxty's recent Between the Jigs and Reels retrospective appears the set "The Pullet/The Ladies' Pantaloons". I'm almost sure that there is a song that uses the melody (or part of it) of the latter tune. Can anyone confirm? |
