The fest was overall pop and rock - and some of the rock bands truly abysmal. There was some very interesting chap on the folk stage singing folk songs (or so close that I could not tell the difference) over mostly electronica backings but some guitar. But I forget his name. There was a band of four young women who sang extremely well but I did not care for their arrangements. There was a solo female singer who was technically excellent - but it was singer-songwriter, not folk. And in the back garden of one pub there was an absolutely stonking blues/rock band in 60s early 70s style! I think they must have been playing the same set since the 60, since they all looked about 60-something, but the drummer was younger so I assume his dad died and he got drafted.

The Late Red was lovely, but the Festival Ale less pleasant.

The specialist fudge was nice but not as nice as the specialist fudge at Sandwich.

I think I will be back again next year.

What does anyone know about the Faversham morris festival? I think Ernie Warner organises it.

Ah, maybe it was the Crown and Anchor I was thinking of then. And thanks for the capo advice; I'll try and get there sometime soon.

The closed one that used to be nearest to the campsite was the very welcoming Crown and Anchor.

The Elephant is still there. A good number of years ago I arranged with Bishop Gundulf Morris to congregate there for a sing - the Saturday I think. I asked the landlord and he said yea, so I went and started - and NO other singers turned up so I sang the whole night unamplified - but the landlord did freely keep my throat lubricated!

If there was a capo left at the GI on Sweeps weekend Karen will probably still have it behind the bar - she is excellent like that. I suggest you ring the pub and ask - there is a shelf behind the house guitars on which lost musical stuff, tuners, capos, pick boxes, music stands, guitar stands, etc etc get put. I'm afraid I won't have time to collect it for you today - on my way to Croydon to get beautiful inamorata, then back here to hook up caravan, then to Faversham.

I believe young James Kerry is doing something on the campsite tonight, but it might be a ceilidh and tune session.

Richard - Having scoured the websites, I've come to the conclusion that there are no sessions or singarounds planned. Finding a pub in town to start one will be difficult, although the Bull in West Street and the Phoenix in Abbey Street have been receptive in the past, as was the Elephant which I assume is the one now closed.

BTW did you by any chance pick up a capo I left at the Good Intent on the Sweeps Weekend?

Any idea where there might be singarounds/song sessions? Nothing I can see on the website. Electric music promised on the campsite Friday and Saturday which is not promising. And the pub that used to be nearest the campsite has closed. Also not promising.
