Subject: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Bonzo3legs Date: 05 Sep 17 - 04:34 PM No chance of gender neutral nonsense in Spain - lots of Spanish ladies in really short shorts! Compare that with the hideous black leggings clad eyesores in England!!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Backwoodsman Date: 05 Sep 17 - 05:16 PM Black leggings are fine on the right legs. Usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Steve Shaw Date: 05 Sep 17 - 05:56 PM I know, Bonzo. I was in Andalucía for a week in August, visiting the gorgeous Cazorla among other places. My sister and Mrs Steve were both amused at and scornful of my roving eye. I mean, at 66 and with more than a touch of the ould arthritis, what bloody use would I be to those lovely callipygian girls anyway? At least I'm harmless... By the way, Italy's just as picturesque! |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: meself Date: 05 Sep 17 - 06:07 PM Please don't tell me what 'callipygian' means - I believe I'm happier imagining definitions ... ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: punkfolkrocker Date: 05 Sep 17 - 06:43 PM Ahhhhh... camel toes.. I'm in good like minded company here... When I grow up I want to be Sid james, or Benny Hill...!!! 😜 |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Steve Shaw Date: 05 Sep 17 - 06:50 PM The word "calliope," from Greek, literally means "beautiful-voiced" (from kallos, meaning "beauty," and ops, meaning "voice"). You may know the beautiful Dave Richardson jig Calliope House. Calliope was the Greek muse who presided over poetry, song, and the arts and sciences. So the first part of the word "callipygian" refers to aesthetic beauty. The second part refers to comely buttocks. So "callipygian" means possessing beautiful buttocks. Or, more aesthetically, having a gorgeous bottom. Regard me as an aficionado of the phenomenon. |

Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: frogprince Date: 05 Sep 17 - 10:37 PM just found this While finishing some college after a hitch in the navy, I, for some forgotten reason, ordered a little module to attach to a mike and transmit to a radio. It only claimed to reach 50 feet or so, but, as it turned out, when jacked up to my reel-to-reel, it reached around campus. So, I became a miniature underground radio station for a little while. I think I put on "Vikki Dougan" more than any other number. |

Be careful or I'll post a picture of me in my posing pouch :-D To continue an old comedic line, does anyone know at which point the beautiful young ladies turn into the old, wrinkled, black clad ladies on donkeys? Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Bonzo3legs Date: 06 Sep 17 - 08:04 AM We are in Playa San Juan as usual, just several km north of Alicante, mainly frequented by Spanish, and thankfully bypassed by the Benidorm hordes!!! We spoke to an Icelandic couple who find the temperature here "slightly" warmer than their typical 7-10C during summer! I took my wife for a 2km spin in her hired wheelchair last night - a first for me and very exhausting in a humid 29C, but the beach promenade area put the roving eye on afterburn!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Steve Shaw Date: 06 Sep 17 - 07:48 PM Oh God, don't I only know it. My last beach promenade was about four weeks ago at Cabo de Gata. We had to wait a bit for a table at our favourite beach-front bar, but, dammit, what a great spot for people-watching! It was 37 degrees that afternoon, so it was all watching and no chasing! The pink flamingos on the marshes were wonderful. What a place! |

Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: keberoxu Date: 09 Sep 17 - 11:44 PM The short shorts are pretty short in hot-as-Hades Phoenix, Arizona, rest assured of that. I won't miss 'em when I head for home. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Dave the Gnome Date: 10 Sep 17 - 06:47 AM Judging by the words of a popular song, shorts shorts seem to be called 'Daisy Dukes' over in the 'states. Is that commonplace? DtG |

Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: frogprince Date: 10 Sep 17 - 05:13 PM DtG: the expression has been fairly common since the U.S.ian tv show "Dukes of Hazzard", which featured character Daisy Duke in decidedly "cheeky" shorts. |

Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Teribus Date: 12 Sep 17 - 06:35 AM Merely an observation on what you "Oiks" have written without any prompting from me, or anyone else for that matter. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: punkfolkrocker Date: 12 Sep 17 - 06:57 AM Teribus - some of us are celebrating the great british tradition of tongue in cheek* saucy humour.. Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Dave the Gnome Date: 12 Sep 17 - 07:01 AM Not merely an observation, surely. Using the phrase What class!! Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: leeneia Date: 13 Sep 17 - 10:50 PM Short shorts make me uncomfortable. I just don't think females should have that much of the body exposed to strangers. And I think no female over 30 should wear short shorts. It's something about the texture of the skin. Recently I was walking down a fashionable ice-cream and antique-shop street when I saw a young woman wearing shorts that exposed the lower edges of her buttocks. Above that was a tight, low-cut knit shirt. Across the shirt was printed "RESPECT". Say what? ============= My last job before retirement was in a fabric store. I put up with a lot, but I had a rule for myself that provided some comfort. The rule was that any woman who came in wearing a tennis dress would receive the minimum of service. I'd help her find her thread, but no extras along the way. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Steve Shaw Date: 14 Sep 17 - 06:54 AM I wear shorts all the time, except when I go outside in December, January and February, and even then only if it's near-freezing, which it rarely is in Cornwall. I never wear long trousers indoors as Mrs Steve and I are totally incompatible when it comes to indoor temperatures. My mum says I've got the best legs on a 66-year-old man she's ever seen, and she is of course a neutral observer. If you've got it, flaunt it, say I! As such I don't agree with any hint of discrimination against anyone who wants to wear shorts. Legs on a person who looks after himself or herself are aesthetically pleasing, and shorts are comfortable, lightweight and non-restricting. I see no harm in displaying your beautiful legs right to the very top, though showing actual bare buttock is probably not the best idea, but I still I think it's a personal choice. The last young lady I saw doing that, attractive as she was, was clearly not comforable with herself as she was tugging them more over her bum about once every ten seconds. I get told off when I'm lounging around indoors for occasionally inadvertently exposing white inner thigh on my otherwise nicely tanned legs. I could wear longer shorts I suppose, but instead I'm revising my suntanning habits in order to eliminate the issue. It's a crowded, anonymous world and I think we should celebrate people's desire for self-expression. We should be allowed to wear whatever we like without disapproving eyebrows being raised as long as we are not actually breaking the law of wherever we happen to be. I have always vehemently opposed school uniform and got into trouble at work for not enforcing it sufficiently. Naughty naughty! No-one has the right to tell a girl how long her skirt should be or tell her that she's inviting sexual aggression from men. My mum thinks that people with tattoos should be thrown in jail. Naturally, I don't agree. I have no tattoos, never wear jewellery of any kind and have no holes pierced into my body and I never, ever wear smelly men's sprays, use deodorant or even scented soap. But I shall be going round to my mates' house tonight for a few noggins, nicely showered, wearing beard, sandals, shorts and a Hawaiian shirt. They wouldn't expect any different. |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: keberoxu Date: 14 Sep 17 - 12:43 PM so it's okay to wear shorts but not short shorts leeneia? thanks for telling us |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Steve Shaw Date: 14 Sep 17 - 08:18 PM I don't mind seeing the odd under-buttock or side boob. Things like that make me feel good to be alive but they don't make me feel like a dirty old predator, never. It can be a dull old world and seeing someone beautiful who turns your head can be uplifting. Don't knock it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Steve Shaw Date: 15 Sep 17 - 07:47 PM I was into Polish culture in Bury and Bolton big-time, Dave, in me early twenties. I was engaged to and very nearly married a beautiful Polish girl from Shaw, near Oldham. I used to go to her place from Radcliffe down past Heaton Park then left down Sheepsfoot Lane on my Honda 50 moped. Later on I'd borrow me dad's Vauxhall Viva and pick her up, after which we'd steam up the car windows at Hollingworth Lake or at a quiet spot near Denshaw. Our social life for several years revolved around the Polish clubs in Bury (home territory), Bolton, Rochdale and Oldham. I'm still in touch with my Polish schoolmate Jan from all those years ago. But those Polaks (that's how they all referred to themselves!) knew how to have a bloody good time! |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: Dave the Gnome Date: 16 Sep 17 - 05:31 AM They certainly did and still do from what I can see! Funnily enough though I was never really steeped in Polish culture. The area my Dad was from was Bialystok in the NE of Poland, quite close to Belarus and the Ukraine. My Grandad was Russian so my cultural upbringing was quite an odd mix! When my Grandma re-married some years after my Grandads death it was in a Russian Orthodox church in Cheetham Hill and the do was at the Ukrainian club in the same vicinity. My enduring memories of it are the singing during the ceremony itself and the dancing on the tables with a bottle of vodka in each hand afterwards :-) Maybe I should put this on one of the England threads! Cheers DtG |
Subject: RE: BS: Who wears short shorts!! From: punkfolkrocker Date: 16 Sep 17 - 08:50 AM Didn't know I was quarter Polish Jew until I was over 18. I was denied all knowledge of that aspect of my 'heritage' because it was treated as some big dark hidden family secret. It seems my Jewish Grandad was some kind of well off flash young rotter who got my very attractive working class nan in the club [ with my mum ] then refused to marry her because she was gentile and not classy enough for his family....??? My mum still didn't want me to make contact with him even after she'd told me the truth, she didn't want my nan upset raking up the past. I had to respect her wishes... Maybe he's the one I get my earthy 'drives' and fascination with women from.....???? dunno... never met the bloke...... But funnily enough, I've always had an affinity for klezma and dark haired women... |
