Subject: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: keberoxu Date: 07 Sep 17 - 12:06 PM First we had Charlottesville, then it was Boston, now it is to be Phoenix. September 30 is the scheduled date for something called a "Freedom Summit." There is PR rhetoric about the "battle for greatness" and about how the summitteers are standing up to the American Mainstream -- those were the words used in the radio spot -- because the American Mainstream opposes the movement to Make America Great Again. I guess it will be the complementary opposite to what transpired in Boston, where the American Mainstream turned out in their tens of thousands to counter-protest the protest. Dinesh d'Souza is one of the headlined presenters. There is promotion online for the event as well. |
Subject: RE: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: keberoxu Date: 08 Sep 17 - 01:22 PM The Greater Phoenix Metro area gets an annual visit from me, as has been the case for a decade or two now. So the place always seems familiar, and never seems like home, to someone like me. My doctor has her practice here, and I come for the annual exam and consult. Nothing against my dear doctor -- I shall miss her -- but the less I visit a place like this anymore, the better. Elsewhere (MOAB) I reported about the rental car snafu at the airport. Of course one of the must-do things in a rental motor vehicle is locating radio stations. That is how I tripped and stumbled across something called The Patriot, if I remember rightly it is 960 on the AM dial. There it was, while orienting myself to Arizona radio, that I heard the adverts for the Phoenix Freedom Summit. I got away from that radio station in a high-tailed hurry. Eventually had computer access (my access is limited to public computer stations, because my private accounts and my phone use are computer-free, as much as possible) , and looked up the Freedom Summit. The connections that I could make out, in what is foreign territory for me, were to talk-show hosts whether on the small screen or on radio broadcasts. One of the presenters does a regular show called Gut Churn, which, well, what can one say to that. |

Subject: RE: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: keberoxu Date: 14 Sep 17 - 12:36 PM Heck no, sparring pardner. So why create a thread? Because I'm superstitious, that's why. The superstition reads like this: In order to watch history repeat itself, and another violent crowd scene (one death in Charlottesville is one death too many), just keep your mouth shut and don't say anything about Phoenix. Then watch all hell break loose there. The flip side of that is: In order to make certain that nothing happens, just stick your head out and make some noise about what-if-Charlottesville-happens-in-Phoenix, let-alone-something-worse-than-Charlottesville . . . and sure enough, nothing will happen. Let's see if it works? |
Subject: RE: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: keberoxu Date: 30 Sep 17 - 02:27 PM It's tonight. No, I will be far away from there. Hope it doesn't go like Charlottesville Virginia. |
Subject: RE: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: keberoxu Date: 01 Oct 17 - 01:43 PM Yesterday's big gatherings were The March for Racial Justice and The March for Black Women. They were elsewhere than Phoenix. |
Subject: RE: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: michaelr Date: 02 Oct 17 - 06:56 PM No mention of the event in the newspaper. |
Subject: RE: BS: Phoenix, Arizona 'summit' From: keberoxu Date: 02 Oct 17 - 07:28 PM Good point, Michaelr. Neither did I read any such. The publicity I noticed was, first, during a radio broadcast, and second, online. But not in the papers. |
