Subject: hurricane-endangered music resources From: Jack Campin Date: 07 Sep 17 - 07:10 PM I have sometimes used the Jewish music archive at Florida Atlantic University - it's probably the biggest audio resource for Yiddish song in the world. I just looked up where it is: Boca Raton, in line for a direct hit from Hurricane Irma. It could well get totally trashed - I hope they have stuff archived off-site. Not much consolation that Mar-a-Lago is only a few miles away and even more vulnerable. Dunno what music resources there might be in Puerto Rico but they might not have done too well either. Past history now: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Music_of_Antigua_and_Barbuda The distinctive cultures of the coastal barrier islands all along the south-east coast of the US could well face obliteration. What else could be in trouble? |
