Subject: Millers Reel BBC
From: Sarah the flute

Does anyone know where I could get a copy of The Miller's Reel broadcast by the BBC in 1987? I can't see that it is available anywhere and wondered if anyone just happened to record it?
Millers Reel details

Cheers

Sarah

Hi Sarah - I need to look but I think I may have some if not all of this programme recorded on a cassette tape. I'll get back to you.

Hi Sarah - I think I have the whole programme apart from maybe the last minute or so "fade out". The link you provided had the programme oroginally starting at 19.15 which suggests a 45-min programme. I can digitise the programme and place it in a "Dropbox" folder, which might be easiest, otherwise you'd have to provide either an email address for me to send it in MP3 "chunks", or a postal address and i'll make you a CD of it. Either of these would mean you sharing information over the internet, which is not always a smart thing to do, so "Dropbox" may be best.
I'm very busy at the moment organising a traditional flute event in Aberdeen in 2 weeks time [ let me know if you're interested - I'm a flute player too ] - but will get the recording made for you as soon as I am able.
Best wishes, Kenny

Here's the "FluteFling" link, just out of interest :

Thanks so much Kenny
Yes dropbox would be great
No hurry - shame Aberdeen is so far away or yes I would have been interested in that! Actually I am working in Edinburgh on 17th Nov but only up for one night and that is still a long way from Aberdeen
So grateful to you for this

Best wishes

Sarah

It's not the tune Skarpi - it's a prog the BBC did for radio but sadly never repeated in England.

On a separate matter I am travelling to Iceland for Christmas with family - where's the best place for trad music? Sadly the session I found in Irish pub says they are not doing a session on 26th Dec

Hi Sarah - please let me know whether or not this works. I think it should be OK. There is a bit of tape noise in the background I'm afraid, but it's probably the best I can do.
Regards, Kenny

Kenny you are an absolute star. Thank you so much. Just back from work trip to Germany and discovered your post. All 3 MP3s seem fine to me. This is indeed what is so wonderful about Mudcat. Shame you are only posting as a guest as I can't PM you to send you a thank you.

Many thanks again

Sarah

You're welcome, Sarah. Glad, as always, to have been of assistance. Can I delete the files now to free up "Dropbox" space, or will I leave them there for a few days ?

Hi Kenny

Yes I've taken files from Dropbox so feel free to delete. Many many thanks again

Skarpi yes that was the pub I looked at - doesn't have to be a session but something traditional to listen to would be good
