Subject: RE: First finger pain From: GUEST,.gargoyle Date: 08 Nov 17 - 08:39 PM I have experienced two serious hand injuries. Both to the thumb on different hands, and one a compound fracture. In both instances, (outside of the first hot wax and occupational sessions) my best treatment/cure has been personal-self-administered massage. Tiger Balm has been a good (although stinky) lubricant for massage. Many of the most efficacious cures lie within ourselves. Simple massage works wonderous healing...and it is within our own reach. Sincerely, Gargoyle After being presented with "workman' s compensation of $7,000 USD ...I elected finger to sholdiers lifetime coverage of my right hand. 11377A |
Subject: RE: First finger pain From: Deckman Date: 08 Nov 17 - 05:42 PM In America, the usual medical protocol is to try to find a fix with the least invasive procedure possible. In the cases of tendon surgery's, this usually means injections of cortisone. Some times two or three attempts. If that doesn't solve the problem, then the medicos looks at surgery. bob(deckman)nelson |
Subject: RE: First finger pain From: gillymor Date: 08 Nov 17 - 04:25 PM I suppose I had a milder form of it than Deckman, I had it in the middle finger of both hands, not from too much flipping off but from a strenuous home demo and remodel, and they both cleared up with a single shot of cortisone and some rest. He's right, choose your doc carefully. |
Subject: RE: First finger pain From: Deckman Date: 08 Nov 17 - 04:04 PM I have had two "trigger thumb" surgeries, in both my left and my right thumbs. The surgery was simple, worked perfectly, with NO complications. Be sure to choose and experienced surgeon. bob(deckman)nelson |
Subject: RE: First finger pain From: banjoman Date: 07 Nov 17 - 04:36 AM I am about to undergo a second surgical procedure for carpal tunnel syndrome and trigger finger. I am advised that its a simple procedure and can be done under local anaesthetic. Best advice is to see a doctor. Good luck |

Subject: RE: First finger pain From: Will Fly Date: 06 Nov 17 - 10:23 AM This does indeed sound like Trigger Finger, though the condition is more common in the 3rd and 4th fingers. There are various treatments, ranging from steroids to surgery - the latter being a simple procedure and very effective - depending on the underlying cause. Get ye to a medic and have a professional assessment. |
