BS: Help/Advice Needed - Visiting Nova Scotia

Next year I am visiting Nova Scotia with my partner from Czech Republic. The web sites my partner has been to indicate that she will need a raft of documents - bank statements, prove of travel and accomodation, ICVP, details of where she will be visiting, passport, ETA, while from the pages I have been to I only need an ETA and Passport, (canadian Embassy Web Site, Gov.UK) and I have been advised to take our adequate travel insurance to cover health care if needed.

Does anyone know definitively what we will need to produce and why we are getting different messages?

Google (click) tells me that requirements are quite simple for Czech citizens visiting Canada as tourists. Immigration is another matter, and that's where all the complications set in.
Same with the U.S., only worse. This page on Canada eTA (click) should be helpful.

Nova Scotia's tourism office has six seacoast drives (click) mapped out. I jumped at the chance to drive the Lighthouse Route as soon as I arrived. I asked how long it would take to drive the route, and I was told three hours. People who know me will understand why it took me three days. I then had only one day left before I was due in Maine, so I had to rush through Halifax and New Brunswick.

Sure hope I can return some day. It was wonderful.

You'll be deep into Stan Rogers' territory here. If you get the chance then do take time to drive the eastern coast road, Lunenberg (with the schooner Bluenose), Halifax and Sherbrooke to name but three unmissable stops.
It's a great place with great people. (and no, I'm not Canadian, but I do love the place.

Sorry, Cooperator; your partner must have accidentally ended up in Citizenship and Immigration territory rather than Tourism. The Canadian government has a bad habit of building its websites for people who already know where to look for the information they need.

Yup, robomatic, singing onsite makes a lot of difference. I sang "Bluenose" in Lunenberg when I unexpectedly came upon Bluenose II, and "Barrett's Privateers" on a Halifax Pier, and "Springhill Mining Disaster" at midnight at the entrance to the mine - all on the same day.

Two days before, I sang Western Boat, although I wasn't completely sure I was on the correct Cape St. Mary's.

We are hoping to go whale watching from Lunenberg - a little pricey, but will be a once in a lifetime experience.

Does anyone know of any regular folk clubs/sessions.

And even though it is months away, I am already nervous about driving on the wrong side of the road.

Canadians drive on the same side as U.S., the right-hand side, same as Czech Rep. Your partner could drive.

Don't worry about driving if you're going in the off-season. SPB. There won't be much traffic to vex you. Have a wonderful time. I love Nova Scotia.
They may be a bit touristy, but do stop at Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove. I also really enjoyed the French-speaking coast of Clare on the Bay of Fundy. Why are there all those big wooden churches out in the middle of nowhere?

I think Kejimkujik is the park where we were able to rent a canoe and go water camping. Also road side fresh fish for sale for cooking in camp.

We had three weeks to cross Canada and spent one entire week in Nova Scotia.

We were looking at overnighting on Cape Breton Island to visit the waterfalls on the Cabot trail. Probably a bit far to travel from and back to Hubbards in one day.

Dave MacIsaac (fiddle) & Louis Benoit (guitar/mandolin); play the Auld Triangle in downtown Halifax most Monday evenings. They also play the Celtic Corner in Dartmouth often.

Richard Wood, virtuoso fiddler, is always playing somewhere.

There are session here and there - there's a weekly Irish session at the aforementioned Auld Triangle in Halifax. There's one at the Auld Triangle in Charlottetown, PEI, as well.

You might want to bookmark this: the coast . It is Halifax-centric, but it does make an attempt to cover the whole province, and PEI. Lots of 'events' and 'music' listings.
