Subject: Quiz: Sugar and spice . . .
From: Nigel Parsons
Date: 21 Nov 17 - 07:52 PM

The quiz theme is "Sugar & Spice and all things nice" (that's what little girls are made of)
All answers are, or include girls' names

This should remain 'above the line' for a day or so at least, as there are music questions included.

Usual request, as for my quizzes, please do not post the answers in the thread
Answers will be posted within a separate thread within the coming week.

I will usually respond to help requests, or score claims, by PM between now and posting the answers.

1 Which is the only girl's name (NOT Charlie) to appear in the NATO phonetic alphabet?
2 What is the symbol of the Earl Haig Fund?
3 Which 1960s pop trio shared their name with a collegiate athletic conference comprising sports teams from eight private institutions of higher education in the Northeastern United States?
4 In the story Jurassic Park, in what material was Dinosaur DNA preserved?
5 What is a traditional gift for a 30th anniversary?

13 Who was the goddess of dawn in Roman mythology and Latin poetry? Also a term for atmospheric light displays?
14 Which character is a work of children's fiction published in 1881 by Swiss author Johanna Spyri?
15 Which country's flag is a white rectangle, with in its central portion a large red cross that extends to the edge of the flag. In the four corners there are four Bolnur-Katskhuri crosses of the same color?
16 What name often used poetically for Ireland, is derived from the Irish name for the country (in the genitive or dative case)?

These things always kill me, Nigel, because I want to post my answers right away and show off how smart I am. Can't we start a separate thread right away in the BS section so we nerds can show off our brilliance right away?

Oooh! Ooooh! I know that one......

Mr. Parsons, I too enjoy your mind-trips.

I suppose, we could post answers to this thread in "font=white" and folks could peek only if they highlighted empty space.

NATO Alpha three answers.

1. DELTA (Dawn - flower got on)

2. ECHO (nymph mythology)

3. JULIET (wherefore art)

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Nigel.... What e-mail address would you like the answers sent to?

What a treat! Two quizzes in one day!
This one was harder, but I've had a bash.
Thank you Nigel.
Kind regards,
Eliza

18.5 for Senoufou.
Got the derivation for number 16, but not the girl's name I was looking for.

Coming right up!
