Well here's a heartwarming and inspirational football story. Just about a year ago, the   Mexican footballer Raúl Jiménez, who played as Wolves' star striker, was so badly injured after a collision of heads that it seemed he would die.

There's a lovely 30-minute documentary on the Beeb that follows his route to recovery from that awful incident. It's taken many months for his rehabilitation, but as from the start of this season he's fully recovered and is, by now, back to his menacing best for Wolves (he scored an amazing goal yesterday) and is going from strength to strength.

He's a lovely, smiley man with a lovely family, all featured in the programme, as is his erstwhile Wolves manager, Nuno Espiritosanto, another wonderful human being. I thought it was a great watch. It's called Code Red and it's on iPlayer.

One just for Steve

Yul Bryner was a lifelong Liverpool fan.

He also never used aftershave.

Yes, that's right,

Yul never wore cologne

I read that somewhere this very morning!

One thing's for sure: I'm no Paul Tierney fan. Tosser.

I wonder where Mike is. He stopped posting and didn't respond to a PM...

The USMNT took on Bosnia in one of those games that are described as 'friendly'.
It didn't sound friendly to me in the description:
one American player, Kelly Acosta if memory serves,
was so aggressively toppled over from behind
that the Bosnian in question was red-carded.

If that was a friendly game, then ... ?

Friendly doesn't mean uncompetitive. It means a game that's for teams to limber up and get some playing time in, with no particular trophy to play for.
