Hi Steve
WE did see some unusual chimneys - they seemed to pop up directly from the ground.; Mostly from the Cave Village of Guadix. Worth a visit.

Back on topic.....Watched Liverpool struggle slightly to beat Bournemouth.

Just getting ready to watch United v City. Should be interesting...

Just watching Everton get mauled by Chelsea'

Cheers Mike

Hi Steve et al
Tomorrow night sees Man United play in the Euro playoffs in Austria.

But due the problems caused By coranovirus they will be playing behind closed gates.

I believe that this is not fair to the players especially one ( about 1000) Man United supporters who are hoping to go.

In my opinion it will spoil the game.

What do you think?????

There is one bright bit about this bloody virus.

At least Liverpool will be denied an outright premiership title!

Having lost three of their last four games who knows how the rest of the season would have panned out!!

Nice piece in the Guardian by Klopp. Your opinion of him will soar when you read it. Funny how so many of the greatest managers in English football are good socialists. Shankly, Cloughie, Fergie, now Jurgen...

And I do think that any decent football fan would fully sympathise with Liverpool FC when you consider the brilliant season they've had and the great entertainment they've given us. But nobody's crowing and nobody's bitter, which is how it should be. Just for once, there something happening a bit more important than footie.

So nothing's changed. Sheffield United are still getting rubbish decisions against them.

Having been denied a goal earlier in the season because VAR intervened so say the player's big toe may have been a millimeter offside, now another one when the ball was miles over the line but VAR said nothing.

Could be important and expensive at the end of the season.

Hi I watched the game and must agree that The Blades got robbed by a lack of co-ordination between the Referee and the operator of the technology.

I also have watched several other games and some strange decisions have been made.

I include the decisions made in " my Team's recent battle with Spurs.

Some strange decisions against both sides and I think United got the better deals.

Ancelotti is a wily old bugger and he had his defence well organised. In a good few matches before the lockdown, Liverpool were stymied by several teams parking the bus. I thought Liverpool warmed to the task more in the second half and were moving the ball around more in the way we're used to seeing, but all too often the long balls were inaccurate and the final pass wasn't hitting its target. They looked blunt up front. They definitely missed the Salah threat and the Robbo surges up the flank. One or two heart-attack defensive moments too. I'm not worrying. Go, Burnley!

So well done to Liverpool for winning the premiership. Good luck in the chase for the highest points total.

Ye gods, that was difficult.

Just remember though you have won it once. Now to prove you're a great team try and do what United did and win it 5 times this decade and 6 times the next decade and a couple of times in the decade after that.

Sour grapes will get you nowhere. Klopp may not quite be God, aka Shankly, but he sure is seated at the right hand of the father...

Of all the campaigns since the Premier League started, Liverpool's this season has been the finest of them all. They've got some amazing home-grown players on the up and up as well. The future is bright. And I think future threats to our supremacy will come from Chelski, not Citeh. If the latter are banned from the Champions League, I can't see De Bruyne staying. Or Sterling. Or Pep even. And their defence, let's face it, needs urgent attention.

Not sour grapes at all Steve, Liverpool have played well and deserved to be champions.

However in the time the premiership has been running there have been 7 winners.

Liverpool          1
Blackburn          1
Leicester          1
Arsenal            3
Man City          4
Chelsea            5
Manchester United 13

These are the facts. In the seasons where United didn't win it they were second on 6 occasions and third on 3 occasions.

hi

I watched Man United play Norwich yesterday.

It was the worst performance I have ever seen from United.....and I've seen some c***p in my time. It was like watching paint dry.

Olly changed his side with 8 changes and they played as if they were strangers.

But.....after scoring a lucky goal on the last minute, they won and now go into the semi finals of the FA Cup !!!!! Norwich battled hard after having man sent off. They wuz robbed.

Hi

Watched Man United with Brighton last night.
What a change in two days. They played with purpose and power. This was rewarded by a (0 - 3 result away from home.

It could ( should ) have been more when Oly removed his best players and it was to save them for more difficult tasks to come.

My husband was extremely jealous of the young security guard in the supermarket this morning, who was wearing an anti-Covid mask with the Norwich City FC logo printed on it. (We were masked in boring old blue things bought in a multi-pack) So I asked the chap where he'd bought it, and he was kind enough to give me the website of a Norwich lady who sews them. I might try and buy a few, but they're the washable sort, and I think chuck-away ones are safer.
The supermarket is right beside the Norwich City stadium, and it was very sad to see it all deserted.

"Parking the bus" is a team putting ALL their players in a defensive roll. Not, or rarely, venturing out of their own half, not trying to score a goal, merely preventing the opposing team from scoring.

Boring as hell if you have to suffer watching such a match.

High G Force

Thanks for opening this topic.

As a longtime Man United supporter I am still astonished by the by the players' lack of dedication etc.

I was also amazed by Liverpool's performance....if it were possible they were worse !!!!.

Serious changes will have to be made. Liverpool have the squad to put them back to to to.

I fear that Man United will be going the other way......
I don't think the transfers were good enough to make much improvement.

No doubt that Steve will have his view. .....

Well I suppose that the outcome of that game was just about fair. A few years ago the penalty would never have been given. It was as soft as you like - AND there was no clear and obvious error. A few years ago Mo would not have been given offside. And the ref gave a Brighton player a yellow card for a foul that clearly wasn't a foul. Liverpool went on to score from the ensuing free kick but the goal was correctly judged to have been offside. Technically, all the decisions went the right way in the end. But the technology is seriously getting in the way of the game, and the ref didn't exactly help. I want a game played by human beings refereed by a human being.

And I fully agree with Jurgen about the Wednesday night-Saturday morning issue. It isn't fair on the club and it's dangerous for the players. The broadcasters are calling all the shots and the well-being of the the players comes a poor second.
