Hi Jon

Nice little domestic image about the Norwich game.

I hope you all were happy with the promotion. I understand it would have been the cherry on the cake if they had won and avoided having a play off.

I am looking forward to seeing them next year. They should be a breath of fresh air .

Congratulations.

Cheers

Mike

Hi Steve et al.

I watched Man ity in a pub filled with City fans. Many of the were biting their their nails as they watched Burnley holding on by the skin
of their teeth. They did not show much enterprize and the inevitable happened as They scored . Strange goal when picture showed it was millimetres over the line, Mind you they had a stone cold penalty yurned down.

The atched United and Chelsea. No classic here but a much improved performance made it look like they were going to scrape in until a howler by De Gea allowed chelsea to score a goal they had never looked like doing. Game finished in a tame draw.

This means that United will not get into top four unless a miracle happens. " Boo hooooo."

Cheers

Mike

Too bad we don't hear from Eliza/Senoufou --
it must have been a big deal for her and her dear husband
when the Norwich Canaries had their breakthrough.

I know from absolutely nothing about this kind of football,
actually I don't know about the North American species either,
but it is entertaining to watch you all watching, as it were.

Utter bollocks from Steve there Keberoxu. English football is played by overpaid nancy boys who cry if they so much as break a fingernail.

Now proper sports such as Rugby (both creeds) Gaelic Fooball, Hurling (the fastest field game in the world are the games to follow. Australian Rules football is another.

And please note our sportsmen (and women) don't wear body armour!

Don't listen to 'im, keberoxou. He probably went to one of them daft northern schools that deludedly "introduced" rugby in the sixties because they thought that that was what posh Oxford/Cambridge snobs indulged in. I mean, what sort of a game is it when you can only score by chucking the ball further away from your goal, and in which it pays to be as fat as a brick shithouse in order for you to collide with and survive a collision with another brick shithouse? He knows NOWT, keb. Tek ner bloody notice!

As a matter of fact, I have a feeling that I was in the first eleven that beat his school at cricket in approx. 1968... I knew there was summat up wi' 'im...

Hi

Now you two stop arguing every one knows that Rugby fans are rather more dignified and less needy. There's an old saying, with a lot of truth in it: “Football is a gentleman's game played by hooligans, and rugby is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen."28 Sep 2015

Right... I am just about ready to watch Liverpool play Barcelona in the first leg of the Euro Champion's League.

I am expecting a hugely entertaining match with two of the top three teams in the World.

I am looking to Liverpool to beat Barcelona or at least score an away goal to bring back as an advantage in the second leg.

So come Liverpool !!! ( this from a Man United Supporter.

Best of luck.

Cheers   Mike.

By the way I think that Basketball is the fastest game.

I did say FIELD sport MikeL, don't know if you've ever watched any Hurling but it is fast, furious and very, very skillful.

The players are all amateurs (they may get boot money) but put every ounce of effort into playing the game. It is rough, brutal at times, and a joy to watch.

** For our American cousins 'boot money' are monies left in players shoe's to cover expenses and not acknowledged by any authorities or the players themselves.

I think that probably up to the age of around 15, I’d have said football was the best game but my interest waned. I probably hated rugby at 15 but there was a long later spell where I’d at least watch all the 5/6 nations I could as well as the World cups (and never did but at one time really fancied going to Lansdowne Road for a Guiness assisted Ireland Wales, I felt the atmosphere would be great…).. It seems ages since I saw any on tv but I thought Aussie Rules a fast and exciting game when I have watched it.

All to difficult to tell with someone who looking back now has wavered a lot and is sometimes (with exceptions such as at least keeping an eye on Norwich) not specially in love with any…

But I would say the most intriguing of sports is test cricket. Not when you get slaughters (although I started watching with the Clive Lloyd sides) but say Ashes 2005 where things are tight and there can be so many twists and turns. Shame none is on free to view these days.

Ooops!!

I don't reckon on Liverpools chances now.

I don't think they'll win the Premiership either.

Yet another season of what might have been.

Still, if you're a Manc that supports Liverpool that's all you can expect or deserve !!!!

If it's any consolation I would have liked to see Liverpool prosper tonight.

I know, I know. But the footie from both teams tonight was stellar, which should be the point, setting tribalism aside. The difference was that the best footballer who's ever drawn breath was there at the right time in the right place, twice. Which is what he does. Jaysus, that free kick...

I'd fancy Liverpool to beat anyone by four at Anfield, but that won't do as they have to stop Messi from scoring even one. One can wish for heroics, but, and let's face it, an Ajax-Barca final will be one to salivate over. And, that night, I'll be on a restaurant terrace watching the sun setting over Mount Etna...

hi

I watched the game and found myself cheering away for Liverpool. They played extremely well but as Steve said , Messi was in the right place and at the right time. He's a little magician, very difficult to mark and explosive when he gets near the ball.

Liverpool tried all they knew to at least get that important away goal but the luck and an impressive Barca defence held them off.

It will be a hard night for them to recover but hey....anything is possible .

I was impressed by Joe Gomez's return from a long absence through injury. He is a very good player and will give Liverpool a new perspective when he reaches full fitness.

As for the other semi, spurs will need to be at their best. Ajax are a very good team,

Have a good time in Italy Steve. I will be in North Wales for the week
But I will be watching both games.

Cheers

Mike

and the Jags.....after half a season in the relegation places we went to Dumfries for a crunch game with Queen of the South yesterday. it was a lovely day, met loads of friendly people and watched thistle cruise to the easiest win of the season - great fun and instead of facing the play-offs for relegation we finish the season 6th in the league. proving yet again - guilt and worry are useless emotions.

the only dark cloud being that it's such a long time til next season.....

partick is an area of glasgow where we used to play about 100 years ago. we then moved to maryhill but kept the name (we like to sing 'maryhill is wonderful...') Jags are what you get if you sit on a thistle. We are also known as the Harry Wraggs but i don't know why. a lot of people (including billy connolly) think our real name is Partick Thistle 0. we are also 'the only team in glasgow' though this may be disputed. according to the jag's supporters yesterday we are 'by far the greatest team the world has ever seen' - obviously there is no dispute about that. hope this clears it up for you.....

Tense match tonight, crowned by a superb goal from Vincent Company.

So it's all down to the last match of the season and anything could happen on the day.

I don't expect Wolves to give Liverpool any favours and they can be a very good attacking side.

By the same token I don't expect Brighton to lie down, roll over and play dead when City get down there.

You have just enjoyed the privilege of witnessing history. Bog off, Citeh, with your grinding out one-nil boring shite three games in a row. Tonight we have seen football as it is meant to be played. And Liverpool are the one team in this country who can deliver that better than anyone else. I love Tottenham but I'd relish a Liverpool-Ajax final. Two teams who deliver skill, speed, positivity and sheer edge-of-seat entertainment better than any teams on the planet at the moment.

I think that the point about the Premier League is that two titans have thrillingly taken it to the brink and whoever claims the crown on Sunday the other won't be seen as "the loser," just for once. Tons of complimentary comments at the foot of the Guardian match report from non-Liverpool fans in awe of that Liverpool performance. Very unusual! I loved this one:

Utd fan here, I haven't posted in ages. Just came to congratulate your lot and say..wow! Just...WOW! What a team you have!

Obviously, I hope you never win another game ever, but tonight...enjoy it you bastards, you deserve it. Cheers.

P.S. That fourth goal must've been a training ground routine right? Either way you have a genius amongst your ranks, weather it's Klopp or TAA I don't know, but it was hilarious watching Barca players in slo-mo!

And Mike, come out come out wherever you are. I desperately need a United fan to take the mick out of!

If Citeh win on Sunday they are the champions, whatever Liverpool do.

If Liverpool win and Citeh draw or lose, Liverpool are the champions.

If they both draw or both lose, Citeh are the champions.

If Liverpool draw and Citeh lose, Citeh would still end up champions unless they've imploded and been beaten by a shedload of goals.

The Mancs have got a much easier game, in theory. But who knows!

a shame, i reckon -ajax have been great to watch this year - all ruined by a second half when they couldn't hold their nerve. crowd singing 'don't worry about a thing...every little thing gonna be alright....' after half time seems cruel now. spurs? never liked them since they beat city 4-1 in an fa cup quarter-final (maybe 25 years ago?)and steve sedgeley did a really annoying goal celebration. i really hope liverpool make them pay for that.

They might have seen the coach break down then k. Things started off with a Norwich FC decorated yellow one and finished off in a red tourist one.

Next season should be interesting. I've read they plan on sticking with an attacking approach to the game and keeping most of the current squad in tact without spending big money but how that (or I suppose any approach for a newly promoted side) will pan out remains to be seen.

Anyway, onto other things. Congrats to both Liverpool and Spurs. Both remarkable turnarounds/comebacks.

Liverpool's record this season:

- 97 points, third highest ever in the Premier League
- 30 wins from 38; first team not to win the title after winning 30 games or more
- First team to lose only 1 game all season and not win the title
- Golden Glove winner for most clean sheets, Allison Becker
- Best defensive record, fewest goals conceded this season
- 2 joint top Golden Boot winners, Mo and Sadio
- Points total good enough to win it any year between 1993 and 2017.

A record hardly deserving of your derision, I feel. Next stop Madrid.
