Just seen on Facebook that one has been given a massive woolly jumper (sweater) provided by an army of local knitters and crocheters! Can’t remember offhand quite where that was or what the plough’s name is, but quite a labour of love!

How right you are about the potholes.
The nearest large city to where I am staying,
is infamous for two things:
the lack of salt to melt the ice on the roads in winter, and
the potholes that form when the temperatures get warmer.

Love the pothole-relevant names as well.

I should think most of them are hibernating, apart from a few in the Highlands and NorthEast, as it has been almost a “no snow” winter so far for us. One morning when about an inch of the white stuff fell, but was gone by lunchtime. But every week since November there have been headlines such as “600 mile snowbomb to hit UK” or “Forecasters predict exact date snow will arrive in Edinburgh”………but nothing!
The lack of snow has meant that they have been able to complete a proper resurface of a half mile section of main road near us, after its potholes shredded hundreds of tyres: took 4 weeks, working through the nights too, so here’s some names for resurfacing machinery.

The southwestern Ontario regional municipality of Chatham-Kent recently held two competitions to name its highway plows.

The first batch of winning entries includes: Betty Whiteout, Ctrl Salt Delete, Flurrie Jenkins (a riff on Ferguson Jenkins), Harry Plowter, Edward Blizzardhands, and Scoop Dogg.

Chewin' the Fat is scripted by / main actors are Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill.
One of their regular skits was the Lighthouse Men (which you can find on youtube and possibly other sites!) where Ford would be bemoaning something, Greg would dae sumpin' nasty tae him, Ford wad say ' gonnae no dae that' and the response wad be 'How?'

They aren't actually complete vehicles, but a gritter module that sits on a truck and only hits the road in winter. There are a whole lot of them parked a few minutes from my house. My wife is particularly fond of Sir Salter Scott.

Will note, however, a parenthesis to one snowplough name, reading:
