Subject: RE: Anne Lister - Word of Mouth, Manchester 2 Feb 2018 From: ChanteyLass Date: 31 Jan 18 - 06:29 PM Anne, the link the guest posted takes people to a page from the Oxford dictionary blog which explains that the term "Spam" comes from the Monty Python skit. A bit of thread drift, I guess. Of course your post is not Spam. It's always good to see you on Mudcat. |
Subject: RE: Anne Lister - Word of Mouth, Manchester 2 Feb 2018 From: Anne Lister Date: 31 Jan 18 - 06:08 PM I'm sorry, Guest - exactly how is this spam? It's not an unwanted email - it's a post to a forum of which I'm a member. |

Subject: RE: Anne Lister - Word of Mouth, Manchester From: Anne Lister Date: 28 Jan 18 - 05:53 PM I should perhaps add the important information that this is a story with plenty of Python-esque humour (no, not obscure Shakespearean stuff) and it should be an entertaining experience! |

Subject: Anne Lister - Word of Mouth, Manchester From: Anne Lister Date: 28 Jan 18 - 12:10 PM I am at the Word of Mouth Storytelling club in Manchester (that's the one in the UK) on Friday 2nd February, telling some episodes from the medieval Arthurian tale of Jaufre. Yes, I know this isn't strictly speaking a music gig but I thought some of you might be interested. It's a story which was originally written in Occitan for a king of Aragon and which remained popular in Spain for (literally) centuries, and it's the subject of my PhD thesis. In fact, this storytelling session is part of the research for the thesis, as it's all about telling the story to modern audiences. It would be good to see some 'Catters there. I've been asked to bring some CDs with me but don't know if there'll be an opportunity to sing a song or two as well. |
