Subject: RE: Acorn4:New CD From: bradfordian Date: 23 Feb 18 - 05:08 AM If you are not a fan of satire, humour, or parody; if you are not amused by the efforts of Les Barker, Stanley Accrington, Sid Kipper, Roaring Jelly, our own Micca & Leadfingers......Then skip this article. 'Cos this is about singer/songwriter Dave Taylor's 4th CD titled "All in good time" Dave (and Julia) are stalwarts of the East Midlands,UK folk scene and have been for some considerable time now. In fact it is because Dave has recently joined the septuagenarian club that he has put together his latest offering. In his sleeve notes he writes " Fourteen tacks over quite a spectrum of serious and frivolous" --and I'm sure the misspelling of "tracks" is deliberate! You can get more information about Dave and his works from his website: www.onthefencegroby.com ACORN4 The lyrics for these and previous recodings are on this website and there are links to some youtube renditions. So if you fell the need for a little pick-me-up or a (more than) quiet chuckle, have a little probe around the website. You will also find details of how to procure these tantalizing gems!!!! bradfordian |

Subject: RE: Acorn4:New CD From: Acorn4 Date: 02 Feb 18 - 04:04 PM £6 inc p and p - pm to purchase:- Not really into high octane marketing just if I don't tell people no one will know:- couple of samples:- Haunted Leonard Cohen's Shantymen |
Subject: RE: Acorn4:New CD From: GUEST Date: 02 Feb 18 - 03:49 PM Not even a brief sample of a couple of tracks for us to hear? Not even details of how much it costs? Not even details of how to purchase? Just a link to a page that says virtually nothing... Good marketing strategy! |
Subject: Acorn4:New CD From: Acorn4 Date: 02 Feb 18 - 03:42 PM Having just passed the three score years and ten, I've put a few songs on a CD to mark the occasion. A lot of grumpy old git stuff as you'd expect:- Title "All in Good Time" - Dave Taylor http://www.onthefencegroby.com/Page99.html 1. There's an alien taken over my brain (insomnia) 2. Promised Land (looking forward to retirement) 3. All the World's a Stage (actors who can't stop acting) 4. Haunted ( People who send other people's children to fight wars) 5. This is an Eighties Song (crap eighties music) 6. Keep that Whistle Blowing (whistleblowers) 7. (If only I'd Worn me White Boots (failed X factor wannabee) 8. Harbour Lights (retired sailor longing for the sea again) 9. Leonard Cohen's Shantymen (haul away with Laughing Len) 10. Glow-worm ( Story of heroic Second World War destroyer crew) 11. Blue Arsed Fly ( having to buzz around like one) 12. Ye Greedy Bastards All ( greedy bastards - historical review) 13. Rose Scented Glasses (England Football team) 14. Range Rover ( twatwagon drivers) pm if interested or I'll probably bump into you at a folk festival. |
