I don't have any particular reason to avoid YouTube, and I've done that in the past. I just thought it would be easier to post directly on Facebook, since that's what Barbara wanted.
I was able to do exactly what I want with Windows Live Movie Maker. I uploaded a photo of Barbara, and then added her recording. But that made for a tedious video, so I added photos of flowers, punctuated by copies of my photo of Barbara. Windows Movie Maker has a button for "publish on Facebook," but that didn't seem to do anything. So, I saved the file in WMV format, and uploaded that to my Facebook page. When I've finished testing it, I'll share it on Barbara's page.

If you have a Mac you can either video the song and singer and post as an unedited Quicktime movie or do a bit more editing in iMovie.
Otherwise you can use a still pic or make a slideshow in iMovie and then add your sound file as a backing track (pull it in from iTunes).
Or, as Tim says, if it's just the sound file you want, use Soundcloud.

If you have a camera or phone which makes videos, play the sound file on a 2nd device while pointing the camera at the picture.
I have no doubts that there is a simpler way to include the image, but that would be one quick & dirty way.

OK, I can post an MP3 at YouTube, but still need a picture. How do I make my MP3 into a sound + photo file?

Yep - one of the problems with Facebook - you can only post Mp3's if you use something like SoundCloud, etc.. You can post photo or videos with sound, but not simple Mp3's........

There was a thread on this about ten year ago, but I figured it was better to start a new thread since technology has changed a lot since then.

I made a recording of my nonagenarian friend Barbara on my Zoom Handy H2 recorder. Ordinarily, I'd edit it in Audacity and save it as an MP3, but Barbara wants the song posted on her facebook page.

That means I have to have some sort of video file with a photo or slideshow.

What's an easy way to save a sound file as a video with one or more photos? What video formats can I upload to Facebook?

Thanks.

-Joe-
