Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: Ed Pellow Date: 22 Dec 99 - 05:48 PM I've not had a chance to access Mudcat for a couple of days, so to rewind a bit: Mbo, of course you're forgiven! I wrote that message late at night, dog tired and feeling a bit sorry for myself. The more I find out about what other people are doing for this supposedly momentous 'event' the more pleased I am that I've decided to stay at home. I've never tried ICQ, or Kat's HEARME. It would however, I think, be nice to contact other mudcatter's in different time zones Ed |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: harpgirl Date: 22 Dec 99 - 10:21 PM ...yah Ed...the thing to do on NYE is to do what will really make you happy. Moonchild and I have decided that we are going to spend NYE at Ginnie Springs on the Santa Fe river. I'll be on my favorite river with a roaring fire and music and friends! Can't wait! Of course, anyone who wants to meet us at Ginnie Springs for NYE is welcome at our campfire.... Kendall, just let us know when you arrive and we will come on over...you and your rig and your pup are also welcome in Tallahassee... |

How about having a mudcatter's jam that weekend. Calling all mudcatters!!!! The first annual Florida gathering might be in the works. Max ... do you have any objection? Let us (me and harpgirl) know ... moonchild |

Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: Callie Date: 23 Dec 99 - 12:14 AM Would a virtual cookie have good byte? I apologise for this insipid attempt at humour, but it's the low sugar part of the day. Happy New Ear to you all, and thanx for all the merriment. Callie |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: harpgirl Date: 23 Dec 99 - 12:22 AM ...kendall...we'll just make the rendezvous for one of the weekends that you are down here...just whenever you come...it will probably be spring by February down here. I saw honeysuckle blossoms on my mailbox today! And Pat, Ginnie Springs is a private campground on the Santa (claus) Fe river outside of High Springs in Gilcrest county...take 27S to Fort White and then six miles south on 47 and then a couple miles on some dirt roads...follow the signs...harpgirl |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: thosp Date: 23 Dec 99 - 12:34 AM Hi Bert! the Y is my attempt to raise my hand in the peace sign --- originally i had put it in parenthesis -so it wouldn't read peace Y thosp -- somebody might think i was saying why peace ( yea i was probably overthinking it ) then i realized that in computer speak parenthesis = a hug -- well it kind of tickled my hippie blood (i'm part hippie, part union- =rights, enviormental activist)and part this, that and the next thing -- anyway there you have it ---- peace (Y) thosp |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: WyoWoman Date: 23 Dec 99 - 02:54 AM I'll be working as the millennium and/or new year turns. It'll be kind of fun, if the technology holds, to watch the developments all around the world as it all comes across the wires and photo desk. If all hell breaks loose, that'll be interesting. But if it's just minor glitches throughout various computer systems that concern us, it will be a consummate pain in the butt and I'll wish I'd gone to listen to a band or stayed home to read a book... But I'd rather be somewhere making music with the likes of all of you... WyoWoman |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: kendall Date: 23 Dec 99 - 09:26 AM I heard that when the new year rolls up, the computers will read it not as 2000, but, oo (1900) then all the toilet paper in the world will turn into Sears Roebuck catalogues. Or, in Texas, corn cobs?? |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: jabjo Date: 23 Dec 99 - 04:34 PM Ed, I'm going to be alone too - and am looking forward to it. Ignore all the strange comments (they can't help being American) Take care, and I'll light a special candle for you. Jabjo |
Subject: RE: Alone at the Millenium From: Marymac90 Date: 24 Dec 99 - 03:03 PM Callie, You said Happy New Ear-does that mean I get a new one to replace this tin one I've got? That would be a fabulous present!!! Kendall, What are the parameters of your FL trip? I have a catering job the first weekend in Feb, but no special plans for Jan. I have friends in Gainesville who I haven't seen in ~3 years. I have never seen their second child, and they're expecting their third now. Had you considered stopping at annap's gathering in NJ the 14-16 of Jan? Here in Blue Bell, PA there is a guest room, where you could spend a night. I also have friends in NC. Once you get into SC, motels get dirt cheap! I'm not ready to sign on as crew for this voyage yet, but we can talk about it. I do bake some mean brownies! You can email me at Marymac90@aol.com Mary McCaffrey |
