Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: JennieG Date: 10 Mar 18 - 09:44 PM Fortunately not very far away. We camp near the stables although it does, at times, smell a little......rural. Close enough to be not far from the action (although this year the action has moved again to include the Fitzroy building) but far enough away from late night noise. |

Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: JennieG Date: 26 Mar 18 - 03:01 AM Cold cold wind in Canberra, following yesterday's rain! It will be nicer tomorrow, apparently. I haven't been practising either, but I may have recruited a fellow office vollie to come along to the hymn session. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Hrothgar Date: 26 Mar 18 - 04:17 AM In Mudgee Tonight Could be a great TV show |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Bruce D Date: 27 Mar 18 - 06:43 AM Weather forcast, is looking good for this year. 26(+) Degree days, and slight change of rain. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Bugsy Date: 27 Mar 18 - 07:49 AM I'd love to get there, but now we're on the pension it's just too expensive. Once you add to the festival tickets, return airfares from Perth, plus tent city (no chance of carrying camping gear on aircraft) it comes into the price bracket of 2 airfares to UK. How I wish it was still a touring festival. Cheers Bugsy |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Bruce from Bathurst Date: 27 Mar 18 - 07:58 AM Never trust the Canberra weather forecast for Easter. Pack enough clothes for a trip to the Antarctic via a few days in Phuket and you should be fine. I think there's a Vinnies at Kingston if all else fails and you need an extra layer or three. Mrs B from B tells me I should act my age. Tough love! She told me I should make the supreme effort and wake up bright and early on Sunday morning for some Ozcatter hymn singing. Gosh, I hope there's still the tradition of a sly liquid "pick me up" to assist with those high harmonies! My hip flask will be running dry by Sunday. Our band, Señor Cabrales, is 'resting' from the National this year but I'll be hosting the Broadcasters Forum on Monday afternoon for anyone interested in chatting about the folk music we hear on Australian radio. All 'Catters welcome, of course. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Bruce D Date: 02 Apr 18 - 08:22 AM Well it was a another good national, with the Ozcatters getting together for Sunday Hymn singing along with 70 or more other singers. it was great seeing everybody. Bruce D |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 03 Apr 18 - 07:10 AM been home a few hours, washing done & dried, fridge very low (a few very sorry veggies, which will go to compost) but we stopped for morning tea & I bought a yummy salad & a delicious pie for dinner. I just downloaded my photos - 422 of 'em, many are duplicates. I like taking lotsa' pics of bones players & dancers to be sure of getting some that show the action! I took a sore-ish throat with me which ended up in laryngitis on Friday so several folks suggested I try manuka honey - in fact the bloke selling it said I would be singing again in 2 days & I was! Tho my voice did go in & out all over the weekend, depending on how much I spoke & sang. Weather was good, I didn't need most of my warm clothes & my Rent-a-tent was close to the festival, tho when my feet were sore, I looked longingly at the mobility scooters trundling about. One of my friends after a lifetime of mobility problems finally hired a scooter & left his wife in his wake! Strange the number of folkies using walkers & scooters these days ... sandra Bruce, you missed a great hymn session, singers were well lubricated by chocolate eggs & Dr. J. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Bruce D Date: 03 Apr 18 - 05:12 PM Well at least one Bruce (D) was at the Hymn singing session. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: JennieG Date: 03 Apr 18 - 07:10 PM It was a good session indeed! Very quiet at Epic last night......we are moving 'up the hill' today staying for another week. I am still painfully coughing and croaking. Next year I shall come dosed and doped up. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Hrothgar Date: 04 Apr 18 - 04:12 AM You probably caught it from Sandra, Jennie. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 04 Apr 18 - 09:40 AM wot an unkind thing to say! |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: JennieG Date: 04 Apr 18 - 07:10 PM No, I caught it from all the hay and straw and dried animal shit being blown around early in the week! It's very quiet up here on the hill. |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Bruce D Date: 31 Mar 19 - 06:58 AM 2019 NFF is only a few weeks away, time for a new thread for next National. Bruce D |
Subject: RE: Ozcatters @ 2018 National Folk Festival? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 31 Mar 19 - 06:08 PM of course! |
