Subject: RE: Folk Clubs in Suffolk From: Speedwell Date: 09 Mar 18 - 09:36 AM Go to Bury Folk Collective website http://www.buryfolkcollective.co.uk/ 21st March is the Folk from the Tradition evening and on the first Monday of every month there's a TUFS night which is Traditional Unaccompanied Folk Singing and Milkmaid website Milkmaid Folk Club www.milkmaidmusic.co.uk for other possibilities in Bury St Edmunds. |
Subject: RE: Folk Clubs in Suffolk From: Rusty Dobro Date: 09 Mar 18 - 08:33 AM Right - here goes! The only club as such is the Everyman - details from www.mardles.org. Plenty of pub singarounds, though. These include Thursdays at the 'Eel's Foot', Eastbridge near Leiston (though nowadays some people try its twin pub, the Middleton 'Bell', on the first Thursday of the month). The 'Harbour Inn' at Southwold hosts a session on first and third Sundays, and the 'Sorrell Horse' at Shottisham has a very enjoyable thrash on first Sundays, from 3.30 pm. The 'Greyhound' at Pettistree, claimant to 'Suffolk's Oldest Pub', is up for sale but is currently trading as usual, including second Sundays of the month when the rare Waddon Pete and Rusty Dobro may be sighted. A little further away, the 'Lattice Barn' in Ipswich is handy for access from Framlingham: every other Thursday, with the next on 15 March. All these are evenings except where stated. Also the Mardles dates are unreliable until the website is updated. Look forward to seeing you. |

Subject: RE: Folk Clubs in Suffolk From: Waddon Pete Date: 07 Mar 18 - 02:35 PM Always worth getting a copy of the Bury Free Press. They have a folk article with club venues listed each week. "Rusty Dobro" can probably help you out as well. |

Subject: Folk Clubs in Suffolk From: wilbyhillbilly Date: 07 Mar 18 - 07:29 AM We are visiting Suffolk shortly in the Framlingham area and Beth (the missus) would like to visit and perform some trad folk songs if there are any singarounds. |
