Some lyrics are easy to remember, because they tell a sequential story, or there are other clues that lead from one line to the next.

Other lyrics are much more difficult, as they consist of lines with little connection to the ones before and after, or they jump backwards and forwards, seemingly at random, in a story.

Here's an example of good 'clues' in a lyric, from Hart's and Black's 'Love Changes Everything' (music by Lloyd Webber):

Love bursts in, and suddenly,
All our wisdom disappears.
Love makes fools of everyone,
All the rules we made are broken ...

The first 2 lines together are one consequential sentence. Then 'wisdom disappears' naturally links with 'makes fools of everyone'; and finally, there's the rhyme of 'fools' and 'rules' to lead us on to the following line.

What other examples do mudcatters have of easy to remember lyrics? Or of difficult to remember lyrics?

P.S. Before anyone challenges my choice of song ... I'm not claiming that 'Love Changes Everything' is a folk song!
