Subject: RE: Rocks of Bawn variants - how many? From: Iains Date: 06 Apr 18 - 11:20 AM Come my little son by Ewan Maccoll The tune is similar/same as tramps and hawking lads. Also recorded by Luke Kelly as come my little son. Is the tune the same as rocks of Bawn to a faster tempo? |

Subject: Rocks of Bawn variants - how many? From: Big Al Whittle Date: 03 Apr 18 - 05:44 AM I was watching the Begleys on TV sing ploughing the rocks of bawn, and i wondered how many people have used this tune. or if perhaps, it comes from an earlier source..? Obviously Dylan used it for I pity the poor immigrant. Also there was that Peggy Seeger song about a woman telling her kids that Dad's over in England building the motorways. I'm sure there must others. |
