Subject: Folklore: Hamish Henderson & Pete Seeger
From: Bill Wagman

I am wondering if perhaps one of the Pete Seeger scholars on the list might be able to assist me. I know that Scottish Poet & Singer Hamish Henderson wrote the song "The Freedom Come All Ye" and that it has been recorded by several people. I also know that in 1963 & 1964 Pete toured the world. I found a communication from Hamish Henderson to Moe Asch in which Henderson mentions that Pete wanted to use the song with suitable sub-titles for his tour in Africa. I know that Pete recorded it for the album "Live in '65" but am wondering if there is perhaps more detail. Does anyone have any information about this? I would appreciate it greatly. Thank you.

Bill, follow up the narrative of the Folkways album recorded by the Glasgow Eskimos that Pete Seeger got issued. This had the Freedom-Come-All Ye on it.

Sorry Bill, I had forgot we corresponded about aspects of this two months ago. Nothing new to add from me.

Here's the Seeger recording from the Live in '65 album:Unfortunately, I don't think it will play outside the U.S. Blame YouTube, not me...
