Subject: BS: UK OS Benchmarks, on Friday 13th From: Mr Red Date: 13 Apr 18 - 05:35 PM because I was photographing the minutia of my town, my eyes were alive to the unusual. And not a 1/4 of a mile from me was a cut mark in the stone abutment of a rail bridge. There are various marks, some cast iron. But very often they were chiseled by a stonemason as a horizontal line with an arrow pointing up from below. see benchmarks.mister.red But today I took a walk (because the bus would got me there at the same time) and stopped to photograph an aging milestone. And there was another. Probably where the old 50ft above mean sea level contour crossed the road (15M in new money) In both these cases I went to two databases and they were not listed! Am I lucky? On a triskaidekaphobic sort of day! FWIW the two are now on bench-marks.org.uk/ Not sure what to do about telling OS-Net they are the official archive. They use satellite data now. |
