In 1962 I was doing teaching practise in a Junior school and they listened to a BBC Singing programme. One of the songs has stuck in my mind
Let us dance upon the hay
Father will grumble, father will grumble
Let us dance upon the hay
Father will grumble, mother won't mind.
In the next verses they decide to visit various relatives to eat or drink
'nothing to pay'

The attitude seems similar to that in the last song in Seiber/ Bartok/ Lloyd 's Hungarian songs but again Google fails me - this time I get absolutely nothing.
Can Mudcat do better?

I assume that it was from Singing Together, There are a lot of the songs on the old folkinfo archive hosted on Joe Offer's site, but unfortunately 1962 is one of the gaps.

The booklet for 1962 is currently available on Amazon: BBC Broadcasts to Schools. Singing Together. Spring 1962, £14.90+£2.80pp (also listed on abebooks, very slightly more) if no-one comes up with the song. The contents aren't listed, but maybe you could ask the seller if the song is in it.

It might have been Singing Together, or maybe Time & Tune. But Autumn not Spring.
