Mr. Red you unerringly make a habit of being correct. You were even closer to the mark than me regarding the nature of energetic quantum space time. I thought empty space was full of psycho troll, soul draining, toxic vampires.

No more religion and politics? Holy Carp! whadami gunna donow.

Oh well, in these golden years at least I could post to the Mudcat cat thread.

the research was pointing-out that an attempt to move people with strong alternative convictions was very counter-productive. And moving the less pugnacious was not as effective by comparison. Overall, if you are into voting patterns and numbers thereof, the recent experience should tell you.

The division we see in the UK & US is testament to the divisive nature. The Arab spring and IS are probably also. I see it on a smaller scale - IME.

When it comes to politics & religion............................. best to shut yer mouth. PAL.

It depends on the goal of the Twitter bot. If If it is aimed at moving those with a slight preference for a stance to a strong preference for that stance it isn't counterproductive I would say. A slight preference may not "get out and vote" whereas a strong preference is more likely to, for example.

in an experiment run by Duke Uni (NY) and Princeton:

They found that offering opposing views rarely swayed people, and where the views were entrenched, it made people veer further to that side.

Fakebook** is not only divisive, it is the cause of the deepening of division.

And in one case I personally found "shared" posts so egregious I had to block that person, and the bastard even had the arrogance to know he had gone too far and at the next Folk Festival still had to spout to me, and being on duty I couldn't remonstrate. What do you do? I am getting a life and it is more pleasant without his insensitivity. ergo - division.

Mind you you don't have to leave this parish to see some of the way opposing views entrenches opinions rather than softening them.

No names, no pack drill, but if you are guilty I doubt you would acknowledge that, to yourself even.

**other anti-social media are available.
