Should you wish to download several radio programme files from the iplayer with one command using youtube-dl, (free command line software) the following will work - leave a space between each programme url!

youtube-dl https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09yxh8t https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09yxh90 https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09zgzlg https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09zgyt9

For some reason the spaces have closed up, but the space must be before each https.

Bonz - do you know if it's possible to download BBC iplayer TV shows and then strip the DRM timed self delete out...??

I recently downloaded a BBC documentary about coping with parents with dementia,
and was bloody annoyed they wouldn't let us permanently keep a resource as useful as that...

In the end all I could do was record the audio through line out...

Yes, you can do that using get_iplayer which is a free command line programme. The command line for downloading a TV programme is like this: get_iplayer --type=tv --pid=b0b052kc --modes=best

You need the pid code for the programme which appears within the url address box at the top of the screen. So for the Queen's Birthday Party on BBC One this evening, the url is http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b0y1dg and the pid code is b0b0y1dg.

This will save a DRM free file to the default folder on the desktop called "iplayer recordings".

What was the programme called? I'll see if I can get it.

Ah I forgot to mention that the downwloaded file will be in mp4 format which is supported by Windows Media Player.

yt-dlp, successor to youtube-dl, can access the iplayer database to extract the url of any programme file which contains code for ordinary HD at 720p. However, the 8 character code can be changed to that for Full HD at 1080p which is at much higher resolution!! Now to find the 4k code!!
