Subject: Norma Waterson, Eliza Carthy, et al. From: keberoxu Date: 09 May 18 - 01:28 PM Topic Records is already marketing Anchor, a newly-recorded album [CD] scheduled for release 1 June 2018, and a 3 June 2018 live performance in London. The Topic Records blurb (linked above) name-checks the "Congo Church", meaning a Congregational parish in Whitby, where the album was recorded. |

Subject: RE: Norma Waterson recording, June 2018 release From: gnomad Date: 19 Jun 18 - 07:18 AM A real mixture with approx 25% traditional but the balance of composers varying widely from Tom Waits to Stephen Foster via Eric Idle. A quietish recording but not a laid back, one gets the feeling this is simply good musicians assembled and playing what comes to mind, damn well of course, there's nothing third (or even second) rate about the performances. Recorded as mentioned by keberoxu above at the Congo but that is to be found a few miles from Whitby at Robin Hood's Bay, just in case of pilgrimages. |
