Subject: Les Sullivan(Herts) Jutland From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 14 May 18 - 11:20 AM Is anyone in touch with Les? He has quite a few songs in the forum, including his song about the battle of Jutland. His song appears without acknowledgement in a book about the battle by Nicholas Jellicoe, grandson of the great Admiral Jellicoe of that battle. He might be miffed by the slight, but pleased to be included. |

Subject: RE: Info: Les Sullivan(Herts) Jutland From: GUEST Date: 14 May 18 - 02:49 PM thanks for the heads up on the inclusion of my song in Admiral Jellicos sons book yes I am pleased to be included but would need to check that it is actually my song as there are several with similar names the song is PRS copyrighted to me and as an equity member I should be credited it is not a requirement for permission to be given but credit certainly should, having said that I would be honoured to be included in such a publication |
Subject: RE: Info: Les Sullivan(Herts) Jutland From: RTim Date: 14 May 18 - 03:32 PM Hi - I will be singing a verse from Les's song "Jutland" as part of a paper I am giving at the 2018 Mystic Sea Music Symposium in Connecticut, USA in June. The paper is about Songs of South Hampshire Waterways and I mention Jellicoe along with several other Old Sotonians within the paper.... Tim Radford |
Subject: RE: Info: Les Sullivan(Herts) Jutland From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 15 May 18 - 04:26 AM It is definitely your song Les. Just a verse with Black Prince as the ship and Johnny as the sailor. It is given with a German song of the time. He probably thinks it was by an unknown sailor of the day. |
Subject: RE: Info: Les Sullivan(Herts) Jutland From: Keith A of Hertford Date: 26 May 18 - 12:29 PM There has been a conclusion to this story. The two writers have been in contact, and Jellicoe has agreed to fully credit Les for his song in the soon to be published paperback edition. |
