Subject: Bubblyrat is very poorly
From: Tradsinger
Date: 26 Jun 18 - 09:40 AM

Had a phone call from the wife of Bubblyrat aka Roger Mills. Apparently his health has declined and he is in hospital prior to going into a care home. His wife wanted me to put this notice on Mudcat. She is also keen to get the message to Bill McKinnon but I don't have any contact info for him. If someone could oblige, I'd be very grateful.

Tradsinger

If you're able, pass my best wishes to Roger. We're distant cousins with common Norfolk roots, and met up many moons ago.

I very much enjoyed Rogers contributions when I first joined Marlow acoustic club, he was a dynamic player and feisty company - which livened things up a lot. We got to work some tunes and songs together as well, good stuff. This is sad news and I wish him well.

It is good of bubblyrat's friends to inform the rest of us.

He has made it to, and past, the age of seventy years,
and has had an eventful life
in good company.
Wishing him well wherever he goes,
and best wishes to his better half.

No, I have no new news.
But yesterday was Bubblyrat's birthday.

Here's hoping that by the time of his birthday
his lifestyle transition, so to say,
had been smoothed out and eased through,
so that he could celebrate this year's birthday
in a safe, secure, caring environment
with his loved ones.

The last I heard from his wife was that he has rallied somewhat and is even trying some tunes on his mouth organ. This was about a fortnight ago.

I have just been in touch. He is now back home again and improving. He is playing the mouth organ again. He hopes to get back on the internet as soon as his computer is mended and also hopes to see friends at the Dartmoor Folk Festival in August. I can pass on any messages from well-wishers.

Feed him Scrumpy, soon...

Withdrawls, can sometimes be fatal...

... so is that where he got his member name --
from the cider-making process? news to me.

Many thanks, Tradsinger et alia,
for taking my inquiry/refresh at face value
and passing on the encouraging news.
It is good to know and happy to hear. keberoxu
