Subject: Lyr Req: Anyone know Chris Smither's Homunculus? From: lefthanded guitar Date: 07 Jul 18 - 11:09 PM I've been a fan nd Chris Smither for many years, and have seen him perform many times, playing his superb guitar stylings, and his......floor. I play some of his music in almost every concert I give, at song circles, etc. But lately, I've been trying to recall an early song of his called Homunculus. I remember liking it, and singing it in a distant past. In fact, I once had a recording of the album it was on; which was destroyed in an intra basement flood that was induced by a nefarious former slipshod landlord.... But that's another story entirely. At any rate, I can't find it on YouTube, or anywheres online, and I wonder if anyone remembers the song and can tell me (all or some) of the lyrics. I think that will kickstart my musical memory. Wasn't a major number of his, like Love You Like A Man, or Killing the Blues, but I'd like to play it again. Thanks in advance, folkies. |

Subject: Lyr Add: HOMUNCULUS (Chris Smither) From: Jim Dixon Date: 11 Jul 18 - 11:02 PM I found it on Spotify. This is how I hear it: HOMUNCULUS As recorded by Chris Smither on "Another Way to Find You" (1992) There's a man that lives inside my mind. He's got eyes that see to the end of time. He never needs nothin' at all. He's a lonely man who walks along With his head hung down and he's singin' his song. He don't need a whole lot o' lovin'. He never needs nothin'. Boy, he never needs nothin' at all. To him the sky is blue forever. There is no time from then to never. When I ask he tells me so. He's told me twice that love is blind, And I've told him once that I don't mind, And he don't need a whole lot o' lovin'. He never needs nothin'. Oh, he never needs nothin' at all. He told me at the start of spring There is an end to this beginning. Leave it now or it leaves it all till fall. He wonders how the wind and rain Can live so long and stand the pain, And he don't need a whole lot o' lovin'. He never needs nothin'. Boy, he never needs nothin' at all. And I've watched him go as he grew older With a mind as cold as mine or colder, And he don't need a whole lot o' lovin'. He never needs nothin'. This man never needs nothin' at all. |
