Subject: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 08 Jul 18 - 03:36 PM My veterinarian daughter visited her sister in Alaska. They all went out on a fishing boat owned by a friend who does charters for halibut. My son in law two daughters and my grand babies were out there and the boat caught fire. The captain said jump and everyone went into the sea. Everyone is fine. Now my kids and son in law are all ranked iron man athletes. Babies had jackets on and they tossed the life raft before jumping. My daughter said it was quite a swim with the kids but got on the raft and boom the fuel tanks exploded blew the ship to pieces and sunk. The coast guard was there in a flash to take them back. My five year old grand daughter said papa it was too cold to swim. My nine year old grandson said well papa at least it wasn’t an airplane. Holy crap |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 08 Jul 18 - 03:50 PM I am so proud of them staying calm and working the problem. My girls are tiny but all muscle and tough as nails. They said to me that sucked dad and the ocean current was a beast. My grandkids was just another day. The captain is fine he is a good guy. When the fire inside the engine compartment started he did it all correctly and emptied the fire extinguishers but the flames took off again and the boat was loaded with fuel. Wow too close . My daughters got the kids told my son in law Help the captain and even got the captains dog before it blew. Proud of them always told them think quick assess the problem then work it. |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 08 Jul 18 - 04:25 PM Thank you Kendall and everyone else who served and serve in the coast guard. I would have plucked my kids from Russia drifting in the sea. They were there so fast |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: frogprince Date: 08 Jul 18 - 05:39 PM "How was your vacation?" "We had a real bang-up time!" Sure glad everyone's okay! |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Rapparee Date: 08 Jul 18 - 05:53 PM I could ask, "So, how was the fishing before all that?" But I won't. I'm glad they're all safe and presumably well. I can see it now: The first day of school and teacher says, "Write about what you did on your summer vacation." The next evening: "Ah, your child wrote about his summer vacation. He has quite an imagination, doesn't he?" "WHAT? It really happened!??!!" |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 08 Jul 18 - 06:02 PM Ways to fish that are guaranteed to NEVER involve an exploding engine: 1) Fishing from shore 2) Wading 3) Fishing from a pier, bridge, or jetty 4) Fishing from a rowboat, canoe, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Steve Shaw Date: 08 Jul 18 - 06:05 PM Mate of mine went out fishing in a kayak on a chilly day. He tried to light a fire, but it sank the kayak. Which goes to show that you can't have your kayak and heat it. |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Rapparee Date: 08 Jul 18 - 06:16 PM My brother blew up the rowboat when he dropped the dynamite he was fishing with. |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 08 Jul 18 - 06:33 PM Rap are you sure he wasn’t blowing up a life size doll |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 08 Jul 18 - 07:46 PM Best one was the captain had on some heavy boots and cameos. So in the sea he kicks off the boots and clothes. He was rescued in his tighty Whiteies lol adding insult to injury |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 08 Jul 18 - 10:09 PM oh, I miss soooo much by using Adblock! Last time I saw an ad, a friend was reading her facebook feed & there it was! - an ad for a youthful oldster in a bright red dress advertising incontinence products (my friend is in her mid 70s so therefore an old lady & therefor interested in such products!) I must ask one of my young friends if I can look over their shoulder next time they are on facebook, so I can see what ads they get. thread drift over If ever I'm in an emergency situation, I hope some resourceful folks like your daughters are there, olddude. |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Rapparee Date: 08 Jul 18 - 10:28 PM The only doll he was interested in then was his Teddy Bear, named "Teddy" (of all things!). Granted, he was 22 at the time of the incident related and had endured much comment when he took Teddy to the Army's Basic Combat Training at Ft. Knox. When he took Teddy on his honeymoon his wife lost Teddy somewhere, causing him a couple years of psychiatric treatment. Even now, in his old age, he will snivel over the loss of Teddy. |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 08 Jul 18 - 11:13 PM lol thank you for the laughs my friends I needed that. Sandra thank you. They are pretty cool headed and I never known them to panic on anything. It was well we get a really cold swim in with the kids. Don’t ask me how I just knew something was wrong when I called them. I just had a bad feeling. Parents get that I guess. Their phones all went down with the ship but called me the next day. |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: leeneia Date: 10 Jul 18 - 10:52 AM I'm glad they are all okay, but Dan, there may be after-effects. Nightmares, insomnia, terror at loud noises, alcohol. Be on the alert. Heck, I had nightmares after seeing a boat on fire IN A MOVIE. |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 10 Jul 18 - 01:11 PM For sure my friend the insurance suggested some after councilors. I think it’s a good idea |

Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: Rapparee Date: 14 Jul 18 - 10:39 PM Catching halibut has been described as "trying to lift a large, heavy, sodden carpet from the bottom of the ocean all by yourself." |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: olddude Date: 15 Jul 18 - 11:26 AM I caught many it is like dragging a plastic bag of rocks with a string |
Subject: RE: BS: My kids blew up From: leeneia Date: 16 Jul 18 - 06:21 PM So there're back on a boat. If nobody feels afraid and nobody's feeling pressured, then that's a good thing. I hope they have a great day. |
