Subject: Hull Folk Festival From: Steve Gardham Date: 22 Jul 18 - 02:01 PM Better late than never. HULL FOLK AND MARITIME FESTIVAL this coming weekend 26-29th July 2018. Despite no Arts Council funding this year we have gone ahead. We have a pier area marquee main stage, a maritime stage on the hatches of the Beverley Barge, Syntan, and a buskers stage on the Scottish fishing vessel, Marie. Lots of other historic vessels on display and a large selection of dance teams performing. All but the 'Keep it Cash' concert on the Friday evening are free. Singarounds and musicians sessions. For programme go to www.hullfolkfestival.co.uk |

Subject: RE: Hull Folk Festival From: Steve Gardham Date: 22 Jul 18 - 05:49 PM have a good time at Warwick, Joe. I think the date was moved back a week to avoid clashing with the local Pride Festival. |
Subject: RE: Hull Folk Festival From: GUEST,Joe G Date: 22 Jul 18 - 07:03 PM Thanks Steve - ah that's probably why I didn't think there would be a clash. Haven't been to Warwick for many years. Used to go every year but switched allegiance to Shrewsbury. Looking forward to going back - the incentive was Korrontzi who I have seen a DVD of but never seen live. They have one of the best box players in the world |
Subject: RE: Hull Folk Festival 26-29 July 2018 From: GUEST,cookieless bloke Date: 23 Jul 18 - 08:47 AM The one till six Saturday afternoon sesh in the Whittington and Cat, will that be a singers sing around, or will it be a tunes/mixed session, please? And could a child come to it? Thanks in advance Lawrie |
Subject: RE: Hull Folk Festival 26-29 July 2018 From: Steve Gardham Date: 23 Jul 18 - 10:35 AM All Whittington and Cat sessions are singarounds but the odd tune is not discouraged. The committee are currently negotiating somewhere for musician sessions in the vicinity of the Marina. I have suggested outdoor as the weather is set fair, either on board the lightship or near the cannon next to Humber Dock Basin to the south of the Marina round the corner from the Minerva. The only problem with these is you would have to provide your own drink. Apparently The Green Bricks will be too crowded, otherwise ideal. I have seen children in the Whittington and Cat so I don't envisage a problem. We could have held a session below on one of the historic ships but only the 2 stage ships have public access. I don't think there are any concerts on Syntan on the Sunday so that would be a possibility. |
