Please could folks id. these artists. They appeared on Folk on 2 some years ago. The songs are:

"Highland Laddie" (or "Heeland Laddie")
"History Lesson"
"Well Met My Loving Friends of Art"

SB: I suggest you put them up as three separate mp3s to make it easier for folk to listen to. Downloading and unzipping is a bit of a challenge on some devices, especially if you're not a Dropbox user. And if you are, Dropbox should just play them in app of browser.

The tracks are clear - someone will recognise the musicians.

Yes, I'm old and un-techy.

Neither I nor my Android tablet seem to know what to do with zip files.
This might apply to a number of mudcats.
Make it easy and safe for us!

Highland Laddie could be the Tannahill Weavers, still going strong after 50 years, I see from their website, though I've not seen them for nearly that many years!

"Hieland Laddie" is definitely "The Tannahill Weavers" - from the album "Mermaid's Song".

Sound Tradition use a harmonium. Are there female voices in there? My wife thinks so, I'm not so sure.

Meanwhile the 'Well Met ...' track sounds (to me) like the Watersons. Leastwise the harmonium might be Dolly Collins'.

Brian Peter was on Folk on 2 performing "History lesson" on 20th May 1992 if that narrows down the date. Might have been repeated in another programme that I don't have the running order of.

Thanks for spotting me, chaps, and to SB for letting me hear the performance again. I did record 'History Lesson' for a CD but I think this version is probably better.

"Well Met My Loving Friends of Art" is actually "The Musical Society" (Roud 24257), as sung by Canny Fettle on their 1977 Traditional Sound album Trip to Harrogate with Dave Hillery singing lead and Phil Bartlett playing harmonium.
