In 2 weeks we are going to a wedding in Eastern Europe, and I need to have plenty of memory card storage available. My camera, a Finepix HS10 takes SD cards up to 32GB which will give me storage for about 1900 photos in RAW. Time is short and I need to order the memory cards tomorrow latest to make sure they arrive in time.

Which ones to buy - any recommendations are welcome please!

I am not aware of a big quality issue with SD memory. It's basically the same kind of thing as USB memory only in a different physical format. I believe most of mine is Sansa brand and I've not had any problems.

Kingston work fine for me.

Tend to use 8GB cards so as to not rely too heavily on a particular card.

They are as cheap as chips anyhow via the web and I am pretty sure that all being equal local purchases should be possible.

16GB cards will allow you a ton of photos and loads of video. Sandisk or the other brands mentioned here are fine. If you buy them with at least that magic speed number 6 or higher on them you'll be hunkydory for cracking good videos. Buy them in Tesco, Asda or Morrisons. I bought some Sandisk ones from an Amazon marketplace seller and they were fakes. Make sure they are in a blister pack with the brand name on them. And always have a spare.

The names above are all good - I have Kingston and PNG, mostly I have Sandisk because they've come up in great sales at a local electronics store.

I use Sandisk - 32 & 64 - and I also shoot in raw. I also take spare batteries for each camera and appropriate chargers.

Look for a 10 rating (often in a circle) - gives faster saving if you take lots of consecutive pics.

Where do you store them?
How do you know what's on them?

Same for computer USB flash drives.

You label them and place them in a small box along with a pocket notebook that details what each label means.

Not that difficult...

My cameras are very old and work more slowly with high capacity cards. So I use several smaller ones.

I must confess that any remarks I make about cameras and memory cards should be seen in the context of the fact that I only have a compact camera with me when I go anywhere. My current one is a Canon Ixus 285HS which is quite tiny but which has 12X optical zoom. I know nowt about RAW and how much storage it eats. I can have have thousands of photos at the best setting and lots of little video snips on a 16GB card. The zoom works with video setting too. If I'm somewhere with half-decent wifi I can copy my photos from the camera straight on to my iPad using Canon's Camera Connect app, thence safely into the Cloud. Who'd have thunk all that would ever be possible!

My wife has an Ixus 185, takes super photos, but I believe she is taking her Cannon film
Camera to this wedding - provided she can get some film!

I use Sandisk Ultra 48MB/s 64gb and it will take something like 2400 6000x4000 RAW files

Over the last 5 or so years I take advantage of sale prices [amazon / mymemory / ebuyer /]
on sandisk ultra and extreme cards...

Whether they are any better or more reliable and durable is open to question,
as my intended purpose is for audio recording,
but family & health problems [mum's dementia mostly]have taken up all my time
and prevented me from getting any use out of them...

We still have old olympus xD cards of photos stored from 10 years ago..
I suppose now I've remembered I should find and check if they are still ok...

My old Olympus SP560 uses XD cards, but the battery cover broke some years ago. I tried superglue which did the trick sort of, but I would not rely on it. I occasionally put music on my 2Gb XD and use in my car with a USB card reader!

Cards are reliable these days but bear in mind that splitting photos between two 16Gb cards rather than one 32Gb will halve the chance of losing 32Gb of photos to card failure - but it doubles the chances of having a card fail or being lost!

The point about finding the class 10 rating is important - that's the write speed to the card, particularly important if you're rapidly shooting stills or doing video.

If you are considering a camera from Sony then it seems to pay to go with the Sony media, it seems particularly good for their own cameras, but the others work. They usually cost more (watch for sales). Your Fuji camera should be fine with any of them mentioned here, as long as they're fast.

It depends.. do you know which retro fit digital back is it equipped with...

As far as I know there were never any for my 1980s Nikon SLRs,
but as that is a classic pro high end large format studio camera,
there may be a small number of specialist Swiss manufactured brands
in the price range of several tens of thousand £££$$$...

Obviously more for gold or platinum plated models...

I've always had good luck with SanDisk - the Ultra or Extreme. For a wedding I use two 16G rather than one 32G to avoid losing everything if a card goes bad or gets lost. Spare batteries are a must and, if travelling out of town, a spare battery charger. A bad battery charger can make the rest of your equipment pretty much useless. Also take a photo or two at home or in your hotel room to make sure everything is working before you go to the wedding.
