I've been fiddling about trying to make a stand for my iphone so that I can take photos without shake, but my limited handicraft skills never succeeded. After a visit to our local dump, I lurched over to a nearby Poundland and found a "Phone Tripod Stand" which of course cost just £1, and does the job very well!

I ordered what amounts to a big clamp to use with my phone that attaches to any regular tripod (I use the same tripods for cameras or the telescope). Ulanzi ll065 Metal Phone Tripod Mount with Hot Shoe Mount Iron Man 2 Pro Smartphone Holder Video Rig Tripod Mount Adapter. This item has changed since I bought it, with my purchase several months ago it didn't come with a hot shoe mount and I don't use one for the phone (I use stationary LED light stands).

How do you trip the shutter? With my camera on a tripod, I trip the shutter with my phone.

I'll trip the shutter using the switch on the earphones cable, so no shake at all, unless some drunken idiot falls into our table! If it lasts for the duration of the wedding we are going to in 2 weeks, I'll be happy.

I simply touch the phone button for the camera, but you can also use something like the selfie stick with the remote button and attach it to the tripod clamp. Or a digital version of the cable release.
