SHE WAS ONLY A POSTMASTER'S DAUGHTER, BUT—
Words, Jack Jevon; music, Hal Dolphe, Emdey Wolfe & Lola Gordon; ©1932.
As recorded by Roy Leslie (as Leslie Holmes), found on YouTube:

[Part 1]

Many girls I’ve met whom I can’t forget,
Little bits of nonsense who were all the world to me:
Ladies big and small, ladies short and tall,
From Hong Kong and ... to merry gay Paree,
Fat girls, thin girls, girls as sweet as sweet.
Listen while their stories I repeat:

She was only a postmaster's daughter, and I met her in the Strand.
She gave me a glad optic, so I took that girl in hand.
We cuddled in the darkness, and that baby wasn't stale.
She was only a postmaster's daughter, but she knew how to handle a mail.

She was only a dressmaker’s daughter, and we met in the Old Kent Road.
She said that she was sleepy, so we went to her abode.
She showed me all her mending, all her hats and pants and coats.
She was only a dressmaker’s daughter, but she knew how to sew wild oats.

She was only a pork butcher’s daughter and we met at Golder’s Green.
Her figure was entrancing, and by golly, I was keen!
She asked me for some money as we sat upon a seat.
She was only a pork butcher’s daughter but she couldn’t make both ends meat.

She was only a scoutmaster's daughter, and we met in Seven Dials.
I was driving a two-seater, and she gave me thrilling smiles.
I whispered, "Like to drive her?" and she quickly jumped inside.
She was only a scoutmaster's daughter, but couldn't that little girl guide!

[Part 2]

Here’s the second part; it’s a funny part.
Yes, it’s even better than the one you heard before.
If you want to smile, listen for a while.
Send the wife out shopping while you barricade the door.
Ev’ryone should learn this little song.
The words are cute and the chorus isn’t long.

She was only a magistrate's daughter, and I met her near the court.
Ten minutes in the darkness and I knew she was a sport.
She was so very pleasing that I had to kiss the wench.
She was only a magistrate's daughter, but she knew what to do on the bench.

She was only a traffic cop's daughter, and we met upon the hill.
She was woolly, wild and wicked, and she gave me quite a thrill.
We wandered o'er the meadows and she told me of her pop.
She was only a traffic cop's daughter, but she just couldn't get me to stop.

She was only a bus driver’s daughter; where we met Lord only knows.
She was fitted out completely with this and these and those.
We drove in her two-seater with so many skids and swerves.
She was only a bus driver’s daughter but Kaye Don couldn’t equal her curves.

She was only an actress’s daughter and I met her in the wings—
A snappy little lady with all the cutest things.
I guessed without her telling that she loved the acting art.
She was only an actress’s daughter, but by ... she’d marvelous parts!

From: Jim Dixon

I have left out a lot of patter from this transcription. It mainly establishes a military marching context. There are shouts of “Hey, I’ve got one,” and “Let the drummer have a go” and so on.

SHE WAS ONLY SOMEBODY’S DAUGHTER
Words and music by the Western Brothers (Kenneth & George), ©1932.
As recorded by Billy Cotton & His Band – found on YouTube

INTRO: Here’s a song for you to sing at morning and night.
Here’s a song for you to sing; you must get it right.
All about a sweetie who has strayed from the nest.
Listen to this ditty and imagine the rest:

1. She was only a corporal’s daughter (3x)
But now she’s an officer’s mess.

CHORUS: No wonder Dad was angry; no wonder he was wild.
She never had no mother, poor little orphan child.

2. She was only a busman’s daughter (3x)
But she never knew when to stop.

3. She were only a butcher’s daughter (3x)
But how this makes her chops(?).

4. She was only a drummer’s daughter (3x)
But she was always on the tap.

5. She was only a greengrocer’s daughter (3x)
But she gave ‘em raspberries too.

6. She was only a fisherman’s daughter (3x)
But she lost her plaice, poor sole.

7. She was only a sergeant’s daughter (3x)
But she never shouted “halt!”

8. She’s only a barber’s daughter (3x)
She’d do anything for a bob.

9. She was only a bookie’s daughter (3x)
But she came home at five to four.

10. She was only a poet’s daughter (3x)
But she said she wasn’t averse.

11. She was only a photographer’s daughter (3x)
But look you! She was overexposed.

CODA: Please don’t throw stones at her.
She’s only an orphan child.

Filthiest one I've heard:
She was only the Admiral's daughter but her naval base was full of discharged seamen.

I believe that it was actually broadcast on the BBC!

She Was Only A Postmaster's Daughter
by Durium Dance Band, recorded cSept 1932. Composer listed as "Jack Jevon, Hal Dolphe, Emdey Wolfe, Lola Gordo"

Voice #1: Have you heard "She's Only a Stableman's Daughter?"
Voice #2: No, not that one.

She was only a postmaster's daughter
And I met her in the Strand
She gave me a glade optic
So I took that girl in hand
We cuddled in the darkness
And that lady wasn't stale
She was only a postmaster's daughter
But she knew how to handle her mail [male].

She was only a scout master's daughter
And we met in Seven Vales [?]
I was driving a nice two seater
And she gave me some two inch nails [?]
I whispered like the driver
She quickly jumped inside
She was only a scout master's daughter
But couldn't that little girl guide.

She was only a traffic cop's daughter
And we met up on the hill
She was wooly, wild and wicked
And she gave me quite a thrill
We wandered o'er the meadows
And she told me of her spot [twat]
She was only a traffic cop's daughter
But she couldn't get me to stop

She was only a magistrates daughter
Silence in the court
Ten minutes in the darkness
And I knew she was a sport
She was so very pleasing
That I had to kiss that wench
She was only a magistrate's daughter
But she knew what to do on the bench.

Spoken: You've just heard "She Was Only A Postmaster's Daughter"

GEE BACK, WHEE BACK
Chorus:
    Gee back, whee back
Come and get your money back
    You know what I mean
    The birds fly high
    The birds fly low
    But never in between.

She was the boot-maker's daughter, boys
Her reputation was vast
She was only the boot-maker's daughter
But she made a naughty lass.

She was the timber-cutter's daughter, boys
Not one of the local whores
She was the timber-cutter's daughter
But she gave the boys the sores

She was only the mechanic's daughter, boys
Lived in a small brown shack
She was only the mechanic's daughter
But she gave all the boys the jack

She was only the farmer's daughter, boys
Her Christian name was Heather
They sent her home from the local show
Because she couldn't keep her calves together

She might come from Mahally [??], boys
She doesn't give a hoot
Just because she comes from Mahally [??]
Don't think she's a root

She was only the woodcutter's daughter, boys
Her face was covered in smiles.
She was only the woodcutter's daughter
You could hear her ring-bark[??] for miles.

She was only the butcher's daughter, boys
She wasn't averse to stripping
She was only the butcher's daughter
But she liked to have her undercut dripping.

She was only the Admiral's daughter, boys
Seeing is believing
She liked to have her naval base
Full of discharged seamen.

She was only the welder's daughter, boys
Loved to do the splits
She was only the welder's daughter
But she had acetylene tits.
Issued ca 1974 on the Bang Away Lulu, Ribald Classics (Vol 4). Issued by AO records.

The chorus
Gee back wee back
Come and get your money back
You know what I mean
The birds fly high
The birds fly low
But never in between.

is found as the chorus of a teasing song... sort of like "bang bang lulu". This chorus can be traced to at least 1945.
