Hello, Skarpi. Welcome back. I was in Iceland last September, and I thought of you.

My husband was taking pictures of the northern lights in Iceland. He had to use an "old-fashioned" camera so he could use manual settings. While he was doing it, people with cell phones would creep up behind him and photograph the display screen on the back of his camera.

I bet they went home and bragged, "And here's a picture I took of the Northern Lights when I was in Iceland."

Leeeneia, never follow the tourist route , go where they are not , the North and the East region is better than the south to see the North light´s and maybe you see something else up there , and I am not joking.

I have been away working , dealing with live , taking care of my two grandchild´s , enjoying that watching them grow and so on ,

Lost my mother and my dear friend is very sick ,
playing and making music , taking part in a Vaka folk festival here in Iceland , many thing smore .

Oh, Skarpi, I am sorry about your mother. I hope your friend is not in pain.
I went to Iceland several years ago on a motorcoach tour. We went to northern Iceland but not to the eastern part of the country. It was a wonderful trip to a beautiful country. Now Vantage, the company I traveled with, offers a 13 day cruise. Here are some places the people will see.

I know what you mean about the south, Skarpi. We also went west and saw beautiful mountains and waterfalls. Along the way, my husband fixed a flat tire for an Icelandic woman, and she told us of a excellent place to get lunch.

We had a delicious, and the tables were covered with old, hand-embroidered cloths. I wandered around, photographing the embroidery. Then they let me play the piano. It was wonderful!

I'm sorry to hear about your mother and your sick friend, Skarpi. I hope your friend recovers.

Good that you are back Skarpi, but sorry to hear about your Mum and your friend.
We also visited Iceland 2 years ago on a cruise, but we had several land-based excursions to many interesting places:geysers, waterfalls, the ancient parliament, the place where the tectonic plates meet/divide . So many people asked us if we saw the Northern Lights, but it was midsummer, with very little darkness!

Well it´s getting darker here now and the Northern light´s are coming back , they tell us they are getting weaker , yes Iceland has it´s place ´s like all country´s on this great planet Mother Earth .
When I get out I´ll stop by and sit down or lay down and give our mother earth a big Hug , she´ll need it now thing´s are going the wrong way , we see the glacier ´s melding faster than ever here in Iceland , and more Volcano are getting all sine ´s of blasting up . The biggest of them all ( Öræfajökull ) Glasier is getting hotter and there is lava coming up slowly , and the Earthquakes are there every hour , why do I hug mother earth ? well it´s in my somehow , I am told that my Grandfather , he was American from Arizona , his mother was an Indian woman and in my later years I have this feeling that is getting stronger every year that I have to do this more often ?? maybe something is wrong in my head , so be it then :) ...
but I have started again making music and lyric´s and getting my happiness again through this moment´s .
just a week ago I finished a song about an old Irish man and his Beer . But Rotten shark and Brennivín in Portaferry well , that may be the next lyric , and then again another one about , De var Brennivín í flasken da vi kom , I sang this one in Getaway many years ago along a hymn .
