From: FreddyHeadey Date: 05 Sep 18 - 10:28 AM the "RedNev" page should give up to date info on those above https://rednev-rearm.blogspot.com/p/regular-events-these-are-also-included.html For some reason he doesn't have Hughie's Everyman Folk Club, currently at the Cross Keys https://sites.google.com/site/theeverymanfolkclub/home |
Subject: RE: Liverpool Nov 19-Dec 15: music, room? From: Noreen Date: 01 Sep 18 - 07:56 AM First Saturday of the month (1st December) at 8:30pm, shanty session in the Baltic Fleet Pub close by the Albert Dock. Even if you're not particularly into shanties it's worth going along to visit the historic Baltic Fleet- so much history in its walls. http://www.liverpoolseashanty.co.uk/ |
Subject: RE: Liverpool Nov 19-Dec 15: music, room? From: GUEST,JIm I Date: 31 Aug 18 - 08:44 AM The Button Street Badger Band run a session in the White Star in Button Street (bottom of Matthew Street) every Wednesday afternoon from about 12 noon till about 3.30pm. Mainly Irish/Scottish/American with the odd shanty thrown in and a lot of tunes of the same traditions. |
Subject: RE: Liverpool Nov 19-Dec 15: music, room? From: GUEST,Derek Schofield Date: 30 Aug 18 - 05:49 AM In terms of music, there's a Thursday afternoon singaround in The Belvedere, just near the university. Hosted by Colin Batho and others. He posts the songs sung (with Roud numbers!) on his Facebook page every week. There are concerts at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (google them - they are mainly in the smaller hall). Hughie Jones runs a folk club. Further afield, there's the Sunday evening folk club in Southport, the Bothy folk club. All of these will come up on Google searches. Derek |
Subject: RE: Liverpool Nov 19-Dec 15: music, room? From: Noreen Date: 29 Aug 18 - 06:50 PM Hello Marion. What sort of music would you be looking for: a chance to perform (sing/play? Solo/session/singaround? English/Irish/other?) or to observe/listen/sit in a concert / folk club? How far are you happy to travel? Will you have your own transport? LOTS of music in the area, just need to know what you're looking for. (I'm from Liverpool and graduated from Liverpool University, but not living there now.) |
Subject: Liverpool Nov 19-Dec 15: music, room? From: Marion Date: 29 Aug 18 - 04:03 PM Hello Mudcatters! I am planning to be in Liverpool, England, from November 19 to December 15. First, can anyone recommend any folk music activities in that time frame? And second, if anyone is interested in renting out a spare bedroom I'd like to talk to you about it. It would need to be a reasonable commute to the University of Liverpool on foot or public transit. Thanks, Marion |
