Lots of fun, it always makes my day! I learned #1 as "All Bound To Go", from the singing of Danny Spooner.

Smallish session but we had fun, got a lot of songs sung, and kept both the bar and the dining room entertained.

The crew was me, Linn (aka Bat Goddess), Charlie (nom de Mudcat Charley Noble), Hutch, Dianne, Don Hale, Gail & Jim Finn, and listeners Don Young and MaryPat.

We seemed to have an ongoing theme of shipwreck or near shipwreck -- not planned.

What we sang --
1. Heave Away, My Johnny - Don Hale
2. Talcahuana Girls - Linn
3. Fall Down, Billy O'Shea - Hutch
4. The Rosabella - Dianne
5. Bound Away (Liverpool Packet) - Charlie
6. Home, Dearie, Home - Linn
7. recitation: Tale of the Kennebec Mariner - Hutch
8. The Katahdin's Battle With the Gale - Charlie
9. Sonny's Dream - Gail Finn
10. Fire Down Below ("fetch a bucket of water, girls" version) - Don
11. Haul Away, Joe - Jim Finn
12. The Nervous Wreck of Edna Fitzgerald (Camille West) - Linn (brucing it again)
13. Lukey's Boat - Hutch
14. Never Turn a blind Eye To the Storm - Charlie
15. Jeannie C. - Dianne
16. Banks of Sicily - Hutch
17. Baidin Fheilimi - Jim
18. Jamestown Homeward Bound - Don
19. Dunbarton's Drums - Dianne (demonstrating the song to Gail)
20. Lee Fore Brace - Charlie
21. Backside of Nantucket Point - Linn
22. That's the Ticket - Gail
23. Bold Riley - Don
24. A Pier Head Chorus - Charlie
25. Shawnee-town - Hutch
26. The Bad Bob Lee - Charli
27. south Australia - Jim
28. Boozing - Dianne
29. Knickerbocker Line - Linn
30. Old Zeb - Hutch
31. Soon May the Wellerman Come - Don
32. Bonnie Bunch of Thyme - Dianne
33. Stormalong, Stormy, Stormalong - Charlie
34. The Cat Came Back (with nautical verse) - Charlie
35. Rowdy Soul - Hutch

I'll have to continue this tomorrow.

Linn

I am planning to be there, and Charlie, I agree with Linn! It's September, and it's time to get warmed up for the Maritime festival! Linn, I am expecting to make it to Nick's show on the 20th. Anybody else coming this Saturday?

The September Press Room Shanty, Forebitter, and Foc's'l Ballad Session-In-Exile will be this Saturday, September 15th from 3:30 to 7:30 at the Continental Restaurant & Bar -- just north of Dover 2 blocks from the intersection of Rtes. 108 and Rte. 9. See previous threads for address and directions.

For consistency and ease is searching for past threads, I'm continuing to refer to the session in the header as "Press Room" even though we're meeting for the time being at the Continental north of Dover and not in Portsmouth.

I'm pretty certain the monthly shanty singaround will be returning to The Press Room when they finally finish up and reopen...which should be reasonably soon. I won't know whether the Friday session will be able to return -- the space will be considerably smaller and very differently configured. I've seen the plans, etc., but won't have enough information to make a decision until it's finished and furnished.

Nick Noble is again hosting a live 4-hour PMFF promo on his WICN (WICN.org) radio show, "The Folk Revival" on Thursday, September 20. Please PM me for more information or to let me know you'll be there.

PMFF ALERT! - The unofficial kickoff session for the Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival will again be downstairs at the Thirsty Moose on Congress Street in Portsmouth, Friday, September 28th, from 4:30 to 8:30.

Hope to see you all at the Continental on Saturday!

Linn
