11 days after the storm the floodwaters are now at the maximum and starting to recede.

I see that Hurricane Michael has caused terrible damage and flooding in Florida, including some deaths. I do hope Mudcatters in that area have managed to stay safe, and that damage to property is fixable.
I read that the wind got up to speeds of 155mph.
I'd have been absolutely petrified. So sorry for all affected.

I'm about 100 miles west of where Michael made landfall. No problems here. Just dead and weak limbs shaken from the trees. (But I have several acres of land and lots of trees, so I'll still be spending some time cleaning up.)

Harpgirl is in Tallahassee, which was directly in the storm's path, albeit far enough inland that it had weakened quite a bit. They still had many downed trees, with the attendant damage to any buildings that happened to be in the way. Hopefully, she'll check in.

In the wake of Hurricane Michael:
Definitely a "human-interest" story here,
since it involves man's best friend. And a very close call!

We're expecting Storm Callum in two days' time. It will affect mostly the North and West of the UK.
At this rate we'll get through the entire alphabet before winter is over.

Callum's coming to us tomorrow. And our government has put not one penny of carbon tax into yesterday'a budget. The only way they would is if it would affect their own lavish salaries.
