Kelso FC and the Eildon Hills (or the Southern Upland Way if you're feeling really energetic).

Lots of folk activity in Glasgow - get there before they burn down the rest of the architecture in torch jobs.

Skipton Folk Club, Mondays. Keighley Folk Club, Fridays. Both in easy distance of some wonderful Yorkshire dales walks and right in the heart of some lesser known Airedale walks. Gnome towers is between the two so if we are not full of relatives you are welcome to see if there is a bed free :-)

There's a very nice folk club in the Dolphin pub, Robin Hood's Bay every Friday. It's mostly singers' nights with guests popping up every month or thereabouts. The walking nearby is superb.

I'm not local to the area but I pop in maybe a couple of times a year. The regulars are very welcoming!

Check their website for details:

Now we are both retired, a plan is hatched to combine playing at folk clubs ( singers nights preferred ) with visits to interesting UK locations - for example we have never been to Chester, Lincoln, Durham etc. We have a relation near to Nether Edge club in Sheffield to make a start. We are also walkers, so suggestions near great hikes appreciated. Places we have enjoyed before include the wonderful Grampus pub session at Lee, N. Devon, Porlock open mike and the Glenn Nevis Pub acoustic session.
