Subject: New and Improved Pete Seeger Website! From: GUEST,David K. Dunaway Date: 10 Oct 18 - 04:15 PM Dear friends and supporters of Pete Seeger: It’s been almost five years since Pete Seeger left us, but his personal and musical legacies echo in our hearts. In Pete’s memory, his biographer has created a website to commemorate how Pete touched lives in many ways. Please consider visiting and leaving an account of your experience at www.rememberingpeteseeger.org. The most important features of this re-edited website are your stories. If you have memories and stories of your experience with Pete Seeger, his music, or his influence in the world of folk music, share them here. It’s people like you who can preserve Pete Seeger’s memory and reflect on the impact (and melodies) he left behind. You might check back as we release podcasts from our radio documentary on Pete Seeger, How Can I Keep from Singing? (and a blog discussing his biographer’s writing and collaborating with Pete on his life.) David Dunaway Dunaway Productions davidkdunaway@gmail.com P.S. David has also written a Pete Seeger discography (from Scarecrow Press), with lists of songs and of musicians with whom he recorded, and Singing Out: An Oral History of America’s Folk Music Revivals (from Oxford University Press), where Seeger and friends reflect on the meaning of folk music and politics. |
Subject: RE: New and Improved Pete Seeger Website! From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 11 Oct 18 - 02:12 AM new website - Remembering Pete Seeger I've posted Australian memories of Pete Seeger's 1963 visit to the Bush Music Club in Sydney. Not mine, I hasten to add, I was still in primary school, but I did write to him in 2009 on his 90th birthday, which was also the Club's 55th anniversary. sandra The Bush Music Club was founded in 1954 to collect, publish and popularise Australia’s traditional songs, dances, music, yarns, recitations and folklore and to encourage the composition of a new kind of song - one that was traditional in style but contemporary in theme |
