I am surprised there has been no mention on this forum of a fine singer/songwriter from Canada - Colter Wall. He is in his twenties but has a singular weathered voice that makes him sound much older. He would be difficult to label but straddles Americana, folk and traditional country. Among many other festivals, he has played Tonder in Denmark last year and the Newport Folk Festival this year. His latest album, 'Songs of the Plains', is very much in the folk idiom. It is produced by Dave Cobb who has been responsible for many remarkable Americana albums. Here is a review with clip. There are several clips from the album on Youtube.

Here is his rendition of a traditional song.

Railroad Bill

An example of his songwriting skill - a favourite of mine from a previous album:

Me and Big Dave

I'm 75 and am thrilled that there are so many talented young people producing remarkable music. Give him a listen.
